No. Staffordshire Terriers and American Bulldogs are two completely different breeds.
Both are sometimes included in the moniker "Pit Bull" since they have a physical resemblance - other dogs generally included as "Pit Bulls" are the American Pit Bull Terrier, the English Bull Terrier, and the Argentine Dogo. But they are NOT the same breed.

A StaffyBull (Staffordshire Bull Terrer) is different from an AmBull (American Bulldog), which are both different than AmStaffs (American Staffordshire Terriers) and American Pit Bull Terriers (APBT). There are subtle differences between the StaffyBull, APBT and AmStaff but there is often a large difference between those and an AmBull. Most often size, depending on which type of AmBull you are looking at. Johnson AmBulls are smaller, no more than 60lbs. Others can be, easy, 110lbs.
You might have heard the term "American Bully" which is totally different than all of them. It is a result of unethical breeders breeding mixes with mixes to get "low rider" dogs that look similar to pit bulls. They irritate me, so I wont go into my American Bully hate spew. hahaha

Staffordshire, American Staffordshire, American Pit Bull terrier, English bul Terrier are all in the group commanly lumped together as pit bulls. Bulldog's where one of the breeds they used to get them along with mastiffs. I use purna dog chow, my put bull is 95lbs and all mussel. If mix 2 raw eggs and a 1/2 cup olive oil twice a week for his skin and coat. I also give him raw groun beef from time to time, my father was a great beleiver in giving dogs raw meat to help keep them happy, no raw meat dose not make dogs mean They were met to eat it.

Nope. Entirely seperate breeds. Although, they do have the same ancestry like all the "Bull" breeds do. Bulldog, Bull Mastiff, Bull terrier, Staffordshire Bull terrier, Pit bull, etc.

No, Stafforshire Bull Terriers are closer to Pit Bulls than American Bull Dogs.
I've never heard any other names for an american bulldog.

the american bulldog is just that. you may be thinking of bully breed but that covers a wide range of breeds. many people confuse the american bulldog with a pit bull or am staff which are 2 completely different breeds.

A staffordshire bull terrier is another name for a pit bull, not a bulldog.

The American bulldog does not go by any other name though it is often confused with other breeds that are similar. The problem you are discovering is that they are just not very well known by many people.
