First take a deep breath, then educate yourself. Don't spray. These pestisides can get into you and your child's lungs and cause damage. Lice only live about 24 hours off of the head anyway.

I just went through this last month and it took nine days to get rid of it. Only nine days. This might sound like a long time, but this is a time consuming task, but well worth it!! I will tell you what I did. Because these are bugs, I distroyed thier home. They live on my and my child's head. I did treat with Rid, then started with the nit comb. I could not believe it, but there were still LIVE BUGS crawling around in my child's hair!!! I decided right then I could not rely on anything but myself. I got a bunch of bobby pins and started to work. TWICE A DAY EVERY DAY FOR 10 DAYS I parted combed and manually removed ALL NITS AND BUGS from both of my daughter's hair. Every time I found one, I was genuanly surprised. I thought I had gotten them all. But even after 2 days of not finding anything, there was that little black speck that would move if touched. It must have been a nit that I missed, or a bug that moved into the hair I already checked when I wasn't looking. Very easy to do. Yes, these things move, that is why you must be diligent and check EVERY DAY. After the ten days (the last 4 not finding anything), I checked every other day. Now I am checking for nits once a week, just in case, but have found nothing for almost 4 weeks.

After using the Rid and waiting the prescribed 3 days, we did mayo treatments with REAL mayo and left it on for 3-4 hours. This will smother any of the critters and kill them. I did this treatment 3 times. It makes your hair really soft and is a moiserizer for your scalp to aid in the scalp damage from the pesticide shampoo you are using. Use the Rid again after 7 days. Put away all of your dolls, and stuffed animals until you have completely gotten rid of all bugs and have been nit free for 10 days. Strip you bedding, pillowcases and pillows and put it in the DRYER for 30 minutes to kill any stray bugs every day for 10 days. Wash in hot water once a week. Vaccuum couches and floors every day for 10 days. Put all hair care things into two sealed plastic bags after dipping them into water that was boiling, but removed from the burner for 5 minutes after uses for 10 days. Remember to vacuum your car, car seats, ect. and it helps to expose it to the freezing air too.

You must check everyone's hair every day. If you keep taking out everything you find every day, they will be gone faster.

When reading the web site provided below, pay attention to the life span of these little critters.

Good luck and God bless.

My daughter got head lice last year in school i almost died!!!
We did the shampoos and the mouses the combing everything and they just didn't want to go away it was awful.... Take white vinegar and water half a cup of each mix together and comb the hair with the lice combs everyday. The vinegar will get the nits off of the hair so that they can not hatch and will remove the lice that has already hatched do this everyday the hair has to be wet just comb the hair and keep dipping the comb into the the vinegar and water. Make sure you put all stuff animals and things like that away for thirty days the lice can not live with out human blood and they will die. Make sure you wash everything in very hot water like your blankets and pillows until you get it under control.

first of all stop crying thats not goin to help u in anyway next to do is go and get some apple cider vinegar it will kill the bugs but u have to but it in a spray bottle and take small section of hair at a time go to the drug store and buy a head lice comb if u dont already have one, spay the vinegar on the hair and wait half an hour then takin small sections again comb the hair from root to end it will take a couple of hours to do one head after each pass of the comb wipe it on a towel so that is clean going back in to the hair take all ur bedding and wash it in really hot water and and thing that can not be washed like stuffed toy but them in a garbage bag for a week or in the dryer for 15 on very high heat you will need to do ur head again in a week
Hope that helps a little

When you wash your family's hair, you should use a tea tree shampoo and MOST IMPORTANTLY loads and loads of tea tree conditioner. Whilst hair still wet, comb through with conditioner still on, lice will fall out. You will have to do this every 2-3 days for a while to get all the eggs that have already been laid.
Also put sheets and pillow cases and towels through a good hot wash and you could always put some tea tree in that wash too. The lice should all die and if you continue to use the tea tree they should not want to come back either!
Good luck!

With lice the key is to get the nits out, if you don't get them out they will hatch. So you need to go buy a lice comb this will show the nits you are getting out of your hair. You guys will probably need to do the Rid again, and make sure you vacuum all furniture, and car seats. Dry for twenty minutes any bedding and pillows. Disinfect combs and brushes by boiling them for 15 minutes or so. Put any stuffed animals in a garbage bag tie tightly and leave closed for two weeks.

You could shave every ones head, lice like nice clean hair, but are unlikely to completely desert a patch of dirty hair. All cloth items should be washed in hot water or left in plastic bags for at least 2 weeks. you can use aloe on your clean shaved head to feel relieved of lice. A good fogger may be needed to get rid of the lice in your home completely.

first wash all your sheets and put all of your stuffed animals and stuff like that in garbage bags for a week or two. then buy one of those head lice combs and mix 1/2 a cup of mineral oil and 1/2 a cup of vinegar together and put it all over your hair. next get a grocery bag, put all your hair in it and wrap it around your head (so it looks like you have a mushroom head lol). after about 15 mins take the plastic bag off and get the head lice comb and start combing it through your hair. keep combing your hair with the brush and cleaning it with hot water. after your done wash your your hair 3-4 times with normal shampoo.

-when you have the plastic bag on your head might start getting really itchy, its because the lice are dieing and they are biting at your head to try to stay alive.
-keep doing this method until all the head lice and eggs are gone. if your head lice is really bad it could take about 5 or more times of doing this with your hair for it to completely go away

trust me this really does work i got head lice about 6 times when i was younger because i use to hang out with this girl who always had it (once she moved i never got it again lol). good luck

Not trying to sound like a tough guy, but about the only time I cry is due to death. I tend to become more pissed than upset over things. I guess I'm a very stereotypical male in that regard. Did Incubus of all people really just call someone else a sociopath and a psychopath?

Crying isn't going to get rid of the lice! You need to disinfect your entire house, your bedding, clothing pets if you have them and yourselves! If you have had lice for 6 months it is probably everywhere! Heat will kill the lice on bedding and clothing so get the laundry going. Then you need to treat the whole family and clean all of the furniture in your house as well, it sounds like it's alive in your house in areas you don't know about!

You may be forgetting to spray some places. You have to treat your car seats, all furniture in the house, hairbrushes, hair ties, bedding, and pick out the nits after you shampoo. Good luck!
