Like you do to measure the dia of say exh. cat. convertor inlet/outlet?

Since, the wall thickness of an exhaust pipe is not that thick. I guess it doesn't really matter.

What we're trying to figure out here is the dia. of the cat. convertor that is installed. So, we don't have access to the end to be able to measure it.

Wrap a tape around the outside of the pipe and measure its circumference. Divide that by pi (3.1416) that is the diameter.

P = pipe size. D = number of degrees to bend Pipe length = the length of the pipe in the bend 5 standard multiplier Pipe length = P x 5 x dia of wheel (maybe 2" on 1/2" pipe) x π x D/360 so you have pl=.5 x 5 x 2 x 3.14 x 90/360 good luck

is there a formula to measure a pipe diameter

We measure pipe diameter with the help of measuring instrument.. and it will give the diameter directly... bty you want inside dia or outside dia??

we use a measuring instrument (diameter is the measurement of a circle strait down the center) you don't need a math guiness to do that
