I have hypoglycemia and I can't seem to go 2 hours without having hunger pains which make me weak and dizzy if I don't eat something. This is very frustrating to have to stop what I'm doing to go eat.Is there anything I could take to keep from getting hungry all the time?I am taking an anti-depressant(Remeron) and it's caused me to gain 30 lbs,and to keep eating will only make me gain more weight. Is there a doctor or nurse out there that could help me with this? Thanks in advance.

It is really important that you keep the sugar content of your meals low. The way hypoglycemia works is:
1. You eat 2. Your blood sugar goes up. 3. Your bodies insulin kicks in.
4. Your blood sugar plummets.
The more sugary foods you have the more insulin you will pump out, making your blood sugar go low again.
For snacks, try to eat higher protein snacks, veggies, and whole grains. The worst thing you can eat is candy, cookies, sugar sweetened drinks, and plain carbs such as potato chips. Hope this helps.

Hooo boy, I feel your pain. I am the SAME way. I keep hearing protein, protein, protein. Have you tried this approach?

Would suggest you see your doc about possibly changing the med or adding another. There are anti-binge meds available but mention the hypoglycemia when you talk to him/her. Protein also helps you not to binge IF you cut way down on the refined sugars/carbs. I found that adding protein doesn't help without eliminating the other. But I'm not a medical professional. Just mentioning what I have experienced.

People with hypoglycemia need to eat every 2-3 hours to keep their blood sugar level You should eat carbs to raise your sugar
level and also include protein to stabilize it. You do not have to eat much at a time so weight gain should not be a problem
