What did they do when they didn't have curlers?

For one thing, curls were called "pin curls" and you used hair pins (bobby pins) to curl your hair and pin the curl to your head. After your hair "sets" remove the pins and your hair is curly. My mom used old orange juice cans for a time back in the 60's -- her hair was long waist - to -knee length and she could wrap her hair around frozen orange juice cans (emptied) and pin her hair to the can to "set" it.

Well, if you have bobby pins, or those little metal snap on barrettes, you can wash your hair, take kinda small strands, twist them, then roll them like little cinnamon rolls against your head, and pin or barrette them. That's what they did in the olden times, according to my mother. They're called pincurls or pinwheels. somethin like that.

Wash your hair, put it in a plait/braid while it's wet, go to sleep. Then in the morning take it out and you have gorgeous waves!
