Does it have any side effects? I have anxiety. Will it reduce the anxiety? I'm about to take it.

I've tried it, and I didn't like it. For me the problem was it worked too well as a sedative, as I slept way too much.

I have depression and anxiety and have been on Lexapro for 2.5 weeks. It has already taken care of the depression. I still have the anxiety and for the first week, it even increased the episodes. The doctor prescribed lorazapam to take as a supplement for the 6 to 8 weeks it will take for the Lexapro to fully kick in. I am hopeful it will start working better on the anxiety and I can see some improvement already. The only side effects I have are dry mouth and constipation.

I have anxiety as well and was prescribed Lexapro. It did nothing for me whatsoever. I have family member who took it with wonderful results. You will probably have to try out several different medications before you found one that really works for you.

I took it because of panic attacks, I had when dealing with people outside the home. But I found that it made me more anxious and jumpy all the time. I had a bad Dr. though I am bipolar and was later told that it shouldn't be prescribed for Bipolar people because it can cause Manic Episodes.

I tried it in my quest for a good antidepressant. I could have been eating sweet tarts, but a friend gets good results. Get a good psych workup and keep trying until you hit the right medication. There is help but its a lot like gold, you have to dig for it.
