Should Christians support it? Sure... Watch that divorce rate skyrocket!

Societal laws should not beholden to religious belief but rather reflect the standard of the community they serve. Excepting in countries with state run religions, I believe the norm is that the religion is always subject to the law.

Christians, Atheists, members of other faiths and people should support and promote the values they subscribe to improve the community in which they exist.

Why, is activism now, regardless of topic, a bad thing?

And by the way, I am a Christian and no I would not support such an effort but would respect it if the community made it law.

It is a basic tenant of my faith that we believe in be subject to goverment powers and to honor and uphold the law.

Society should support this law as it would benefit all. I also personally believe every child DESERVES a married mother and father to start life off on the best foot.

The risk of divorce after living together is 40 to 85% higher than the risk of divorce after not living together. In other words, those who live together before marriage are almost twice as likely to divorce than those who did not live together.

With Carol M's answer, it's no wonder I don't believe in organized religion.

I have lived with my girlfriend/fiance for close to 8 years. We have been together for close to 9 years. We have 5 wonderful children together and have endured much through our short time together that has made us much stronger.

We have had no real reason to get married. I mean, we have been together for almost 9 years and we love each other just as much as any married couple would or does. To us it's just a piece of paper and doesn't automatically mean you will stay together for the rest of your lives. So we aren't in any rush.

That being said, we will be getting married in the next couple months. Nothing will change and we will still be in as much love as we are now.

She also doesn't believe in organized religion.

me, please explain this statement:

"Society should support this law as it would benefit all. I also personally believe every child DESERVES a married mother and father to start life off on the best foot."

Why do you feel that children start off on the best foot if they have a married father and mother? My children have me in their lives and home just as much as a home that has a married couple. What's the difference?

I am a Christian and I do support a law like that, I support God's law. Unmaried have no business co-hapitating and living as if they are married and are not.

Women lower themselves when they allow themselves to be used like that. "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free" so to speak. Have some self respect!

1 Corinthians 7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

Christan should not promote any part of government because Jesus said that they were no part of this world, but they do need to respect ruling authorities and what ever judgments they pass as long as it doesn't interfere with Gods Law.

There are already such laws on the books. They are generally not enforced but they are there.

Old laws supported by those who thought everyone must live by their religion. Sadly, many still do. That's not something most Americans are willing to do though - live by someone else's religion - so laws are changing.

A marriage created in union with God has no need of being validated by man's laws, unless the ones involved have the desire to do so.

And should atheists petition to remove religion totally? No, of course not. It's their choice to believe in whatever religion, as long as they don't try to convert or whatever.

But no, because God, if he existed, gave man free will. So the Christians will be going against the word of God. But God gave THEM the free will to try to outlaw it. So how would it work? Just don't bother trying to outlaw it anyway.

Is there such a law being proposed?

Christians need to learn to do less legislating and more loving through action.

I am a Christian.

I can tell you I'm not gonna watch this nation's morals crumble without doing something about it.

Christians aren't pushing thier agenda--we're defending against the media pushing it's agenda.

I would support it.
