"age of accountability" clause is not in the Bible. I believe though that Babies go to heaven because they are born perfect and holy. I believe the Bible teaches that very clearly.

There is a point where you do reach an "age of accountability" that is you are aware that you are deliberatly choosing to disobey or reject God. This is not as much as a biblical term as it is a theological or philosophical term.

I do not know of a specific clause but some of the bible seems to teach that a baby or infant is saved. Remember when David's son finally died after he had fasted and asked God not to take him. He said something to the effect of: I cannot bring you here but I will go to you later. Implying that he will see his son in heaven. There are many others.

It has been around a lot longer than that. Dumbass theologians have at various times tried to say that unbabtised babies go to Hell. Women may not have had a lot of power in the past, but they had enough to get the idiots to stop trying to damn their little ones.

Some point to Isaiah 7:16, but I think it is misguided.
