Automatics are usually a little more expensive. What you should buy is down to your personal preference. Some people prefer a manual gearbox.
To be honest the fact that you are even asking this question makes me think that you have no personal preference. In this case I would suggest you buy the car that feels most comfortable to you. Do not buy a car with a manual gearbox just because others say "a manual is better", buy it because you prefer and enjoy using a manual gearbox. I myself prefer a manual gearbox but my own car is a bmw 525 auto, it was very cheap and is still a pleasure to drive. Sometimes on country roads I yearn for a manual box, but at 7:30 am on a monday morning I am glad I have an auto box.

The best car to buy really depends on your preference
If you want something reliable and respectable there's the Honda Accord.
For great fuel milage the Toyota Prius
If it's speed and image (at a fair price), the Subaru WRX or Mitsubishi Evo.
The new Ford Mustangs look great at a great price too.
Got kids? Then you should be looking into Mini Vans or SUV's
Recently divorced? The BMW M6 is rated then best car to get back on that horse (but at a hefty price tag of $100,000)
When it's time to buy a car, take your time and have fun. The dealers want you to buy, so they are willing to lay out the red carpet. Take as many test drives as you can and see what they can offer you.
Have fun! :)

Automatic or normal? I assume you are reffering to standard transmission??
They sometimes differ in price. It depends on the vehicle. Our GTO was more expensive in standard, while most cars are more expensive with an automatic transmission.
Which one is best to buy is up to you. It depends on your driving preferences and style. If you live where there is heavy traffic and are doing a lot of stop and go, then automatic would probably be best suited for you. But, like I said it depends on you.
My personal preference is always standard transmission, while my hubby prefers automatic because he gets tired of pushing in the clutch all the time.

Well, I don't own a car. But I do drive lorries. Automatics win hands down on general motorway, fast road driving but struggle to pull away quickly at junctions. That's where progressive driving skills come into play, but that's not always possible. Sometimes you just have to stop. I'd go for a manual car if you're using it around town.

Depends. Cars come standard with manual transmission, but if you want an automatic transmission to do the work for you and shift gears by itself, it will cost you more. Like, say for a Chevy malibu, you can expect to pay anywhere from $1300-$2,000 more for an automtic transmission. If you like changing gears every so often, then a manual transmission is for you. if you tend to hate manual transmissions, get an automatic.

Once you've driven an automatic, you'll never want to go back to gears again. They are brilliant, you can't roll back on a hill it's just not possible. They're brill and todays cars are reliable, years ago automatics would go wrong more than geared ones.
The cost is about the same

Depends on your driving style and your need of course. There are advantages and disadvantages for both cars which depends to your driving style and need.
Fuel consumption is also different. The best car is one that suits your environment and pocket. Price difference is not much, capacity and performance and the like.

Automatic cars are like driving a large go-kart. Choose a car with a stick - you really feel like you're driving. Are you American? Just that it's a really strange question for a European to ask :-)

what is a Normal car? Do you mean a standard? A standard saves money on gas, but takes more to fix where as an Automatic is easier to fix and more gas is used.
