Because all logic and scientific reasoning suggests that there is no such thing as God. Read a book or something. You'll learn a lot more about Atheist.

Because all other choices simply do not make any rational sense to me. Take Christianity for one (this is what I was raised to beleive, so this is why I pick to comment on it) - God is called perfect, is allegedly omniscient and all powerful. Yet, God himself calls himself Jealous God (jealousy is not a trait of perfection), changes his mind when his son (who is really himself, so it wasnt much of a sacrifice in the end) dies for mankinds sins, and he sits by and allows people to kill others in his name when he has the power to stop it...
Im not sure how anyone can beleive that.

I got stuck at birth with a questioning, analytical, skeptical mind that didn't take all the information I was fed without a grain of salt. I educated myself in various religions, analytically examined, compared and contrasted quite a few religions and came to the logical conclusion that the idea of an omnipotent creator god is illogical... then I stumbled onto Buddhism and that philosophy pretty much confirmed my thoughts.
