I'm 17 (so a senior in h.s.) and I personally love carnations. I like them much better than the classic roses because they smell better and last longer, and I think they are just as beautiful. So yes carnations are very sweet. And though it's not related to your question, I'll give you a little tip: if you have a g/f or when you do have one and you two get in a fight, don't send her roses unless it's her favorite flower. Send her a bunch of her favorite flowers. She'll appreciate that more plus it will show that you actually listen when she tells you things.

I don't love carnations, but since you're in high school and that's what they're selling...it's OK. The girl will probably enjoy receiving a carnation she wasn't expecting. It will be sweet.

But next time you give her flowers, don't give her carnations. Give her either her favorite flower or (if you don't know her favorite) the old standby - roses.

P.S. There is a difference between CORNY (which a lot of girls will like) and CHEESY (which most girls won't like!).

Good luck.

Well carnations are odd. I know that my school always gave out roses on Valentines day. But I do remember getting them and always thinking that they were sweet. It's nice to know that someone was thinking of you.

In high school, that is totally sweet. And it's fun to give & receive them.

In real life, when you have a girlfriend....that is not cool. You better get her nicer flowers than carnations. If you don't, it's just half assed.

I think its sweet! That's my mom's favorite. My dad bought her some pink ones before he took her on their first date and now 33 years later for special occasions he buys her the same ones. Its like a little tradition.

Definitely sweet...I remember that practice when I was in High School, and it meant the world when I received one/some.

Never had a girl that didnt like recieving one. It's a good way to let someone know that you like them if you are afraid to talk to them also. Think of it as an ice breaker.
