If we are born with original sin, or whatever you want to call it, do we have original sin in the womb?

How does that work with abortion? If you arent' considered to have original sin in the womb, is that because you aren't truly alive yet? Wouldn't that mean it would be okay to abort you because you aren't truly alive if you're not "alive" enough to have original sin?

Is there a line somewhere?

I'm really not trying to advocate any view on abortion. I'm most interested in how you decide whether someone is considered "alive" to have sin and how that gets reconciled with when someone is alive enough to be murdered. Is there a gap between when you are alive enough to be murdered and when you take on original sin?

Is murder a sin? Abortion is Murder, because as soon as conception happens the embryo starts to grow there for is alive in some sort of way. There for Abortion is a sin.

Original Sin? What is that? God does not hold anyone accountable for anyone else's sins. Not even Adam and Eve's sins.

What does abortion have to do with this topic? Abortion is wrong because it is the murder of an innocent baby, unable to defend himself.

If you do not believe that life begins before birth, then read the Bible. When Mary, the mother of Jesus went to visit Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, both were still pregnant. Mary was not very far along yet as she was about 6 months behind Elizabeth. Still, John was full of the Holy Ghost and leaped for joy within the womb of Elizabeth in testimony that the Son of God was within the womb of Mary. I don't know how anybody could be full of the Holy Ghost unless he was already alive.

As the account in the Bible states, Elizabeth could only have been about 6 months pregnant as Mary went to see here almost immediately after she conceived.

Abortion is wrong. If you are considering it, please don't do it. If you have already done it, then I am very sorry. I hope that you will be able to find the solace that you are searching for. There is forgiveness. Jesus said that the only unforgivable sin was blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. I don't think you have done that. But the repentance process is not always easy, especially with more serious sins. It often takes time with lots of sincere prayer to your Father in Heaven. Stick with him and the forgiveness will come. As it does, you will have to also learn to forgive yourself.

Good luck.

Original sin does not mean that a sin has been committed, only that the tendency to sin is there from the very beginning. We are born selfish and have to be taught to share, we are born self-centered and have to learn to respect others. Whether or not you have sinned is irrelevant to the question of whether or not someone should be able to kill you, unless that sin is something very dangerous to others, like murder, and even then some people feel the death penalty is too much, so why would you subject an entirely innocent person to it? Remember, you can have a tendency to do a wrong and still be innocent because you chose not to or you didn't have the opportunity.

IF you believe in the doctrine of Original Sin, and IF you believe that ensoulment occurs at the moment of conception, then you must believe that all humans suffer the effects of original sin from the moment sperm and ovum merge. That's the only place that a line could be drawn.

The Catholic church wrestled with this issue for centuries because it presented a problem for the Incarnation of Christ. Since he was divine, he couldn't be the product of a sinful womb. That's why they proclaimed the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. For unexplained reasons, Mary was conceived without the effects of original sin. The only way to solve the problem was to declare a miracle.

So, with the aforementioned rules in place, the dividing line is conception. Sperm & egg? Not human life. Sperm IN egg? Human life (and sinful). And if you're Catholic, it's not even fair to prevent it from happening.

IF you believe.

i don't understand why people believe in original sin. if everyone was born into sin then that would mean every baby that dies during birth and after birth goes to hell. which don't make any sense to me. a baby don't Even know right from wrong and just because Christians believe in original sin, then from the moment u enter your mothers womb, you are a sinner that needs to repent but how can a baby repent without language or without even knowing that they've done something wrong. logically it doesn't make any sense to say everyone is born of sin. when you reason and use logic, it goes against human law.

Good question...

Does an aborted child go to heaven? Or to hell?

What about an aborted child of an Atheist? And an aborted child of a Christian?

What about still-birth?

Where did you get Sin of the womb? We are born with natural sin but aborting someone is still a sin in and of itself. Sin is sin.
