if there is going to end up being some fanatic group of christians who so desperately want the end times to be now so that they can be with their lord that they will instigate it? they will try to make it come true?

We call them cults. Jim Jones and all. A real Christian will not end his/her life just to be with Jesus because they know that the time will come and we all have a purpose on this earth.
As for instigating the end of the world, well, there are alwasy sickos out there.

I am a Christian and the end times fanatics scare me. Most of those who speak of the end times are misguided interpretators.
Yes it is the end times, just as much as the 1st Century is the end times. Each day we are getting closer.

Would make a good movie. Or you could write the novel. It would be a pretty big thing to pull off without getting caught in these days of counter-terrorism.

If we really do have a war, though, I'm afraid these kind of cults will pop up. If they band together, it could be scary.
But these would be crazy people. Normal Christians would just being saying "See, we were right." and incorporate the crazies into how the second coming plays out.
