it was done by a male artist (paint i believe).
it had a cinema at the back (with sally fields name on it i think)
there were cars (old american ones)
it was rainy
there were neon lights in it
I know its vague but if any one thinks they have seen it, can you tell me what it is please?

it certainly looks like a hendersen cisz painting, it might be one of his lesser famous ones.
for some reason though the name richard comes into it...

This made me think of Edward Hopper ....
He usually painted scenes like this one ...
But i am sure it is not one of his paints.
Or it could be Humberto Pinochet (http://www.galerieartis.com/fr/pinochet/pinochet_1.html)

I'm looking at an art brochure at the mo (thinking of buying a painting) and in it are two artists who paint the sort of picture you describe, New York, cars, rain.
Henderson Cisz and David Farren. Can't see the exact one you describe, though, so maybe it's not either of them!
