the first one I got, the tattoo artist did this all in one sitting and its about 2 inches big all around. I then got some tribal art done and it is about the same size. The second time around though was from a different artist. He did the outline then i went back 2 weeks later to get the shading done. Is it possible to just get my tattoo done and over with in a single sitting? I want to go out of town to get it done but don't want to make another trip just to get the rest done.

2 of my 3 were able to be done in one sitting. My third one took three sittings, but that's because it's huge. It's all going to depend on your artist and your tolerance level. Talk to the artist in advance and ask if he can do it all at once. If he can't, ask if he can recomend some one who could.

most tattoo artists do a full tattoo in one sitting unless it is extremely large. but some will do a large tattoo if you are from out of town. for instance i have a full back tattoo that i am working on and it has been worked on 7 different times for 11 1/2 hours total. but i have gotten other tattoos that have been about 2-3 hour sessions. if the second tattoo you got was not huge then i have no clue why your artist didn't do it all in one sitting.

It depends on the artist. The position in which the artist sits can be quite awkward. This is also true for the lucky collector. If my artist was getting sore or tired, I would much rather him (or) her stop. Better to make another trip to finish, than to have "Debbie" instead of "Donna."

Most of my tattoos are done in one session, a lot are as long as they aren't full sleeves or back pieces. The only ones that aren't are the larger pieces which I don't expect to sit through all at once.

I'm having a cover-up done at a convention next month and he has me scheduled as his only appointment on Saturday....he said it would take 8 to 9 hours. So I see no reason why it can't be done in one sitting.

Well that all depends on the piece you are getting i got my tribal done on my lower back that took like 40 minutes and i asked if he could do some letter inside the heart attached to the tribal and was told i would have to come back so if u just get one piece you wont have to go back if you want different things then you might have to go back I would just call them before you go there and ask them if they could do it all at once

my first tat - sat for 4 hours.I have no idea why your tat wasn't done in one sitting unless the artist had another appt. or their hand or back was hurting them and they have to limit their sessions. Or if you have sensitive skin, that could also be a factor. Just be sure to ask the artist to pencil you in for the whole thing to be done in one sitting, if they say no, ask why!

Of course you can get it all done at once. Just tell the tattooist that you want it all done in the one sitting and they will gladly oblige you. No big deal.
Hope this helps and happy tattooing!! :-)

The longest I have sat for is 1 1/2 hours, so I see no reason that you can't get yours done in one go.

My first one was done all in one sitting, the outlining, shading, coloring, all of it, it took about 45 minutes. So I would say yes, depending on size and details.
