Our church has an active recycling program, and there are quite a few local religious groups (mine included) that pick up trash alongside the highways. Sometimes, vacant lots are cleaned out, and other improvements made to the land. Trees are planted. These are all small gestures, but every little bit helps. We were meant to be good stewards of the Earth.

We all have a responsibility to keep up the earth. It is, after all, a gift from God, and a temporary gift at that as we are only here for a few years and then we must pass it on.
Christians that claim it does not matter because the rapture is coming soon just don't get it.
Don't get me wrong. I think that there are a lot of tree hugging wackos out there that think that the only way to save the earth is to either kill all humans or at least force us back into the stone age.
I think we have a responsibility to keep our planet nice. We shouldn't just throw our garbage anywhere. We should keep our yards clean. We should not go out and hunt for sport. We should use our forests responsibly. Don't just cut them down, but also leaving them to overgrow themselves is also bad.
We should find ways to make our air cleaner. Cleaner burning fuels and such can only make our lives nicer.
But I do not believe that we have any control over global warming. I do not believe that anything we do will stop it. Even it every human being went out and turned off every device of every sort that man has ever created, and then went out and killed themselves, global warming would not change. I just don't believe that we have that kind of control over the climate. The climate will be whatever God determines it will be.

Our church has a volunteer group that cleans up the highway. I can't go because its always during work. They also make mosquito nets for pregnant African women because of malaria, and various other things.
I refuse to drive an SUV, even though I live in a very snowy region and almost everyone here has an SUV or a big ole pick-up truck. I hand raise orphaned wild animals, like squirrels, which the people around here think should just be left to die because they view them as nuisances.
Steven d: You're so very wrong! The bible tells us to be good stewards of this earth and the creatures in it.

It is not only Christians but every one has a moral obligation to protect the environment. We are all causing tremendous harm to the next generation by creating a polluted and wild world.God wants men to live according to the laws of nature. If we destroy the nature it will take revenge on you.
There are hundreds of ways to protect the nature. Go back to basics. Use not plastic carry bags.Reduce the use of chemicals and instead of polluting the nature by using several vehicles by the same family try to use one car for reaching various destination.Stop manufacturing polluting vehicles.Plant as many trees as possible.

Respectfully.... It is our souls that we are to nurture and protect by way of our daily reading of God's Word in the Holy Bible. We are to concentrate on where our souls will go when we die. No matter what happens in life, this world will eventually pass away, but where will your soul go when you die?
God controls this earth, its weather, waters, etc and if you want to keep God's wrath from further destruction, we need to obey His word as He instructs us to. No other people in the Biblical days were exempt from God's wrath, and we aren't either. Balaton sin will stir up the wrath of God in the blink of an eye, but the people in this world could not care less.
Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
People ask God why this and why that but they still choose not to obey Him, and live unrighteously.
Proverbs 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
God has made no secret of what He asks of us, but most people choose to ignore Him and wonder why our world is in danger of destruction.

Contrary to popular belief, many Christians are concerned about the environment. The Earth is a gift to us from God like people and animals are and if we can take care of them we can take care of the Earth too. My favorite thing to do personally is planting trees, it's not much I know but it helps. I also recycle, and dont drive a gas guzzler and often walk to places instead of driving.
Little bits add up.

IN THE BOOK OF REVELATIONS IT SAYS THAT GOD WILL BRING TO RUIN THOSE RUINING THE EARTH. EVIDENTLY THE EARTH WILL BE IN THE PROCESS OF BEING RUINED WHEN HE BRINGS IN ARMEGGEDON. AS A CHRISTIAN YOU SHOULD FEEL OBLIGATED NOT TO BE PART OF RUINING THE EARTH.DELIBERATELY THAT IS.WE ALL HAVE A PART IN POLLUTION IF YOU DRIVE A GAS POWERED CAR.BUT THIS IS NECESSARY IN THESE TIMES FOR MANY CHRISTIANS.DO WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART TO HELP THE EARTH FOR JESUS LOVE A CHEERFULL GIVER BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY GIVE A WARNING CALL TO ALL WHO WILL LISTEN AND LET THEM KNOW THAT YOUR GOD IS COMING SOON TO FIX HIS CREATION.THERE IS NOT REALLY MUCH YOU CAN DO TO FIX THIS PLANET IT IS WRITTEN THAT GOD WILL FIX IT.IT IS NOT PRIORITY TO HELP HEAL THE WORLD BUT PREACHING THE END OF THIS SYSTEM IS .INSTEAD OF TRYING IN FUTILITY TO HEAL THE PLANET FOCUS ON THE PREACHING WORK AND SAVE A LIFE.MATT.24:14

If we would have obeyed God's Laws and would not have lusted for all kinds of unnecessary stuff His Creation would still be in good condition. Those who love God, obey His Laws and protect His Creation. I would love to see more people love God in this way. We must free ourselves from coveting all the useless junk.

i go by highways or sometimes secluded roads and pick up garbage, its a good way to keep the streets sterile and create a good environment that would be hospitable for nature and ourselves.

The church's mission is in Matthew 28:19. Our priority is saving the lost, we are not an environmental movement.
