I'll split this in two parts:

Old Testament: God created the earth, mankind messed up and was tempted by the devil. They have been paying for it with death, disease and war ever since. God chose a special people to carry his truth, called them the Jews. The Jews traveled around displacing local peoples from their lands because God promised it to the Jews. The Jews finally won the land then forgot about God and suffered hundreds of years of wars trying to keep it. A messiah is promised to come and relieve the Jews of their problems.

New Testament: A man named Jesus is born, gathers diciples claiming to be said Messiah. He gets a pretty good following, until he becomes a liability to the ruling class in Jerusalem who are trying to avoid decimation by the Romans. Jesus gets crusified for riling up the masses. 3 days later a woman attending his tomb says she sees an angel and that he has risen again. A few days after that a couple of his deciples are walking along and have a conversation with someone that they don't recognize, but later figure was Jesus. He asends to heaven. 50 days later the deciples are hanging out in a room, wondering what went wrong, then are hit with the "holy spirit" and go out preaching the good news. Paul is converted and finds a way to justify Jesus as the Savior using the old testament. He also justifies preaching to non Jews, including them into the chosen people fold, and increasing the Christian population. John gets isolate on the island of Patmos and then procedes to have visions as he fails in health, he writes them down as revelations. They look to be focused on the fall of Rome, he predicts Christ will return before he dies. Then dies.

i think the old testament is just really violent and filled with dumb teachings excluding a few but i like the literary work. The New Testament is worth reading because it focuses on the brighter side of life and life after death, its also a good guideline.

The Bible and The new testament are a collection of contradictory letters written over a period of four hundred years and have been given religious significance. They have saved peoples lives, started wars, built hospitals and made families hate each other. As many people as The Bible has saved it has caused the death of. Many people have devoted their lives to helping other people because of the Bible and as many serial killers have murdered in the name of God. There are Many words of wisdom in the Bible but very little of it has any relevance in AD 2007. Because it is badly written and badly translated it is open to misinterpretation and produces fanatics.
I both hate and fear fanatics of any kind because they have closed minds and are unreasonable and therefore dangerous.

When the time was right and there was a common language, Greek, God sent His Son into the world to atone for the sins of the world. First God allowed His Son three years to pick and train twelve men who could be trusted to take God's words to all peoples from one end of the earth to the other. Then as planned His Son was crucified on a cross, to bear the burdens of all man's sins. The death, burial and Resurrection of His Son is the saving grace that was needed for God to allow all men to come to him. From that the church was born and spread throughout the world.
