my trial just expired. i got a new trial key right now, but the activation dialog box that comes up, doesn't come up for a trial, it comes up for converting to the product. Is there a way i can have a second trial? Do i need to uninstall and then reinstall?

Yup, uninstall and reinstall. I did that a couple times for the trail edition of Visio so I could get through the semester!
