The first step to prevent gout has to be an accurate diagnosis of gout. Only when a correct diagnosis of gout is made, appropriate treatment can be chosen. If there is anything atypical or unusual about the symptoms, the doctor may have to take a sample of some fluid from an affected joint for a closer examination. This will allow the doctor to better understand the gout cause and prescribe gout medication accordingly.

In addition, the dose of medication is an important consideration in getting rid of gout successfully. It has to be large enough to ensure that adequate treatment is received. Choice of the drug and its dose should be planned in advance. Typically, the drug that has helped to get rid of gout is colchicines. It is advisable to start a full course with colchicines and it should be continued either until there is relief or side effects require termination.

Other common ways to get rid of gout include avoiding alcohol consumption, changing one’s diet and exercising more regularly. There is no restriction to the type of exercise one prefers to engage in. However it is important to bear in mind that when one should avoid exercising when having a gout attack. By sticking to a diet that consists of low purine food, it is possible to reduce gout attacks and get rid of the gout pain completely. Restricting the intake of alcoholic beverages that contain purines to a one glass per week, will also help in achieve the aim of getting rid of gout totally.

First, you need to be diagnosed with gouty arthritis. Self-diagnoses don't count. You haven't mentioned specific symptoms so I have no way to know if you really do have gout symptoms. See your doctor, get a diagnosis and, if you do indeed have gouty arthritis, your doctor will put you on an anti-gout med, such as allopurinol or colchicine, prescribe an analgesic and will recommend a diet low in prurines. You may actually another form of arthritis which would be treated differently.

Gout is a condition where uric acid crystals build up in the body.
This can happen in the area of the big toe and cause a lot of pain.
Our foods contain purines; some foods are higher in this than others.
The doctor may place you on a lower purine diet (of which they will usually provide you a list of foods to avoid. There is also medications that can lower the uric acid in the blood
Here an alternative way to cure gout?

I have gout and you have my deepest sympathy. The first thing that you need to do, is go to a doctor. He will recommend drinking lots of water, watch your diet, stay away from certain types if sea food. We will probably give you prescriptions for your gout, Allopurinol and Colchicine. Colchicine has been used since the Roman times and it is a nasty little pill. It has a tendency to make you sick and give you a slight case of diarhea
One of the folk remedies is to drink lots of cherry juice and believe it or not it really does help. Lots of luck.

Fatty food and food high in sugar and starch can all aggravate gout symptoms. I had a bachelor cousin and uncle who lived together and ate Domino's pizza and drank Pepsi all the time. They both had trouble with gout at the same time, coincidence?, I think not When their diets improved so did their symptoms.

Are you on high blood pressure meds? If yes, then you need to have them adjusted..
My dad gets it, but not as bad as before they adjusted his meds.
Stay away from rich foods, that's the big one, and if you see a physician they will give you pain meds and an rx that will help to break up the uric acid in your system.
The only thing really to prevent reoccurence is your diet..or a change in meds if you take them.
Eat alot of fruit and leafy greens and take a multi-vitamin.
Good luck with that I know it's really painful.
Hope you can get it under control.
