I'm going to go on holiday this year for the first time with my girlfriend. We are considering Egypt but I've heard a few bad reports. We will probably decide on a resort nearer the time and i would like if possible to spend about £450-550 per person for at least 10 nights.

Would you recommend going all-inclusive? I think it would be a good option in case i havn't got thousands saved up for spending money as we would still be able to eat and drink without worrying about running out of money!

Hopefully people can let me know their opinions based on experience!

Cheers

Egypt is a funny one... most people i know have got very ill when they have been there... Think if you're serious about Egypt you need to go 5*, anything less and you could spend your entire holiday in your hotel bathroom... But even if you went 3* you're looking at way more than £450-500pp depending on when you go... For a 5* (which is what i recommend) you're looking at nearer £1000pp. I wouldn't recommend anything other than all inclusive for Egypt either... a friend of mine went half board and she ended up in hospital having injections because she got so ill... Just be careful what you choose, if it's your first holiday with your girlfriend you want it to be special for the right reasons not the wrong ones :) Good luck xx

I think all-inclusive is a pretty good way to go. Just make sure you get all the details from wherever you'll be staying. Is there enough variety in the food/drink/ department? Are there time restrictions? Do they provide lunch packages so you can go on day trips? When do the specific meals start/end and are there snacks of any kind, etc, etc. It's important to know what's included and when so you don't get ripped off. Also, some places serve exactly the same food for lunch as for dinner, so look out for that. And since you're considering a 10-day stay, keep in mind that most places have a fixed day menu. So every Monday tastes the same.
So while there are a few things to keep in mind, I think all-inclusive is a good, safe, way to go. Gives you a better idea of what you need to save and bring along.

I've been on about 25 all inclusive over the past 10 years, and booked another so far this year.
Went on a so called 4 star in August last year in Majorca that would put you off them for life.
Poor food quality, cheap cuts of meat etc. My wife and I had a competition one night to try and guess which part of a chicken the cut of meat was from, but couldn't figure it out.

Had a great one in October, 4 star in La Pineda, Spain, so it's all about doing the research and making the right choice.

Try the reports on www.RealHolidayReports.Com
Sites like these give good results if your looking to check a hotel, out before you book it.

Have loads of mates who go to egypt for bellydance. All inclusive is always a good option if you get a good deal, means you have the choice of eating elsewqhere etc. Egypt is pretty damn cheap tho so you will probably be able to afford to eat where you want etc. Also taxis etc are very cheap. Like anywhere there will be certain places where its tourist prices but hey,HAGGLE cos its expected in most places.Hope this helps.

I prefer All Inclusive as like you said you don't have to worry about money for drinks and meals. Just remember to take a little money for trips and souveneirs.
Have a great time!

You would be able to do a cruise with thomsons for that kind of money. The people are very friendly but there are a lot of beggars so you have to watch also dont except anything as a gift as they actually expect you to pay for it. Hope that helps

Absolutely true. Full pockets bring you sycophant and free loaders while empty pocket make you understand what are your true friends and well wishers.
