WHat makes this unlike other scams? It's a scam. I've been sent at least three checks, they usually get my address from Monster.com. Does this involve dealing with anyone overseas, because if it does then it's definetly a scam. And you gotta think if it's just as easy as going to a bank to cash a check, what makes it so hard for them to do it themselves, other than the fact that they don't want to be videotaped by the bank?

Any transaction that you complete on the internet could contain potential fraud. In this case where an indivdual from outside the country sent you a check for an item plus they sent if for more money and ask for you to send it back to them. What happens is this. The check is a money order not a check. The money is available to you now. But when that money order comes back bad and you already sent that money to the person. The bank comes after you..they dont care at all if this is fraud. They want their money back. DO NOT DO THIS. Rip up the check. Some banks might even verify personal checks. But dont ever accpet a check where you are asked to send money back

Read the fine print very carefully before doing so. Determine who sent it to you and why. The bank may be of assistance. If everything is on the up and up, lucky you.
Be careful. Be very careful.
