Gormet Pop-Corn Generic brand. Typical shrink wrap wrapper arround paper bag

My questions is... is it still safe to eat this? I think it is lightly buttered?

Thanks

I would say probably safe to eat. I have noticed that if I try to pop a bag that seems old....sometimes it doesn't blow up completely OR some of it burns! But try it and if you don't like it, then throw it out and buy new stuff!

You're probably OK - You're giving us the "Best if Used by Date" that doesn't mean that on Oct. 1 2005 it went bad. It just means that the quality isn't guaranteed anymore.

As for the butter - it's chemicals flavored to taste like butter. If it were real butter, you'd have to store it in your fridge, or no longer than a few hours out on the counter.

I think that its save to eat -- it doesn't really go bad, per se. But, it may not pop very well. When microwave popcorn goes "stale" it loses the moisture in the kernels that pops the corn. Consequently, you will end up with more unpopped kernels in the bag after microwaving it. It won't be hazardous to eat, but it might create chewy popped corn or a lot of unpopped kernals.

Expiration dates are meant to be guidelines for freshness only, not the products safety when consumed. Cook it,and if it tastes bad, then dispose of it. I think that it is still good.

cook it up. If it smells like old feet, don't eat it. Trust me, I know.

as long as the wrapper hasnt been cut or torn...look at the box and see if they put a date on it...if not, then it should be alright....

Definitely DON'T eat it. Especially since you think it is buttered. Butter goes rancid with time and that is bad news for your health. That is way out of date - throw it away. Its not worth the risk.
