Painting is always easier than wallpapering, and more durable. However, you already have wallpaper so you might have to remove it before doing anything. Some wallpaper can be painted over. Check with a paint/wallpaper or home store for info. Also, there are many books that have chapters on this situation. You can find many of these at the stores with the paint/wallpaper.

You need to peek underneath and see what the wall texture is like underneath. Sometimes sloppy first owners will throw up wall paper instead of properly finishing their walls......happened here. So when I pulled the paper, I had to go back and reskim the walls so when painted they didn't look so bad. It was just an extra step I wasn't planning. However, in my bathroom the unpapered walls are highly textured. To pull the wallpaper I will never be able to replicate the the texture, so I'll have to repaper.

Anyway, I'd probably repaper your little bathroom because the proper wallpaper in a small space can be far more dynamic than if the same paper was used in a larger room.

If you are asking to paint over wallpaper...don't

If you are asking should you wallpaper instead of paint ? sure

But why not do both. In a county type room setting you can paint the bottom half of a wall put on a piece of pretty molding [painted a different color] on the top and wallpaper the rest.

Or you could use natural wood panaling 1/2 the way up a wall and paint it put on the molding and then paper the rest of the way.

You could even paint two walls and paper two walls.

Depending on what room it is depends on what you can do with it!

Be creative! Go wild, Express yourself!

good luck

Painting is much easier, and can be done more often if you like change. Paint will make the room look much larger, wallpaper tends to make the room look small. Be careful to cover your floor with newspapers or a painters cloth so that new floor won't get splattered.

I advise painting because if you ever have to take wallpaper down it is a huge pain in the butt. Painting is easier and much more modern. Also when you go to sell buyers don't like wallpaper.

Paint and then use the trim to go with the color in the tile.My kids just remodeled their home and it looks great. The paint will look neutral in the 1/2 bath, just put the colors around to draw the color scheme in there..Good Luck.
