Ok, I will be the first to admit that I don't really agree with their religious beliefs and I don't understand much about their culture.
Now, with that said, why do people hate them and call them terrorists and go on and on about how evil they are?
It reminds me of various lessons garnered from history.
Jews were seen as evil and hated throughout history for various reasons ranging from Christ' crusifiction to worries about their assumed greed and malice.
Germans were seen as evil because of Hitler. No explanation needed there.
Japanese were seen as war mongors and murderous monsters because they bombed Pearl Harbor and were cruel to POW's to the point of torchering them to death.
The Aztec's were seen as savages and for this they were nearly wiped out.All because their culture and beliefs were different and perhaps gruesome to an outside observer.

When do we as a society stop generalizing an entire people?I often insult Christians. But I am careful to not use the words like "all Christians" when describing my frustrations with "some" Christians. Why can't people who are angry with the terrorist's Muslims describe them as the "some" instead of just saying something like "All Muslims are terrorists"?

We must ask ourselves,
Were all Jews bad?
Were all Germans bad?
Were all Japanese bad?
Were all Aztecs bad?
And, so, are all Muslims bad?

I must also point out that if a person or persons commit an act of terrorism and declare that they are doing it for a faith, that doesn't not automatically mean that they represent that faith.Or do you think that Christians who murder abortion doctors and bomb clinics represent Christianity as a whole?

well it's a shame that they have such a bad reputation based on a few extremists just like the germans and jews and aztecs have a bad reputation and you're right we need to stop generalizing people as a whole based on the actions of a few as each and every individual thinks and acts differently from one another and not all represent the group the way that they are supposed to ahh i guess it's hard for some people to look past their fears and realize that not everybody is the same until that time comes people will always be generalized as a whole and the media does play a part in all of this as well as it's scandal that brings in ratings and for the magazine companies and newspaper companies it's scandal that sells

It could be that it is of human nature or a click of society grouped together with common bond and interests or belief to judge and generalize the actions of the few who belong to a different segment of society.
Like the clergies of the Catholic Religion are branded as a whole for the mistakes of the few.
Muslims who do the atrocities are just but a few among millions of their populations but their actions have affected great numbers of innocent victims so you can't help it.

Muslims had the ottoman empire in europe and when they conquered they gave the people a decision, convert or die. Then we see terrorism in the middle east for centuries. Kind of like the gangs who kill each other in america, but terrorism as expanded and is trying to cause fear and hide all over the world, now and they are all of the Muslim faith, I don't think the gangsters are even religious, but the comparison is almost the same. Gangstas try to be a teens family and replace the family. Anyways, you get the idea.

I loathe what's written in the Qur'an. I even have no longer something yet contempt for the murderous historic past of Mohammad and his companions. i'm astonished that maximum of Muslims can quite have faith interior of genuinely the BS that Mohammad made up. yet, i do no longer Hate a Muslim. I choose the Muslim as a individual and prefer or dislike her or him on their advantages and demerits. .

Thanx God !! i could see some positive attitude towards muslims here , I appreciate it !!
Quran 5:32 "...if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people..."
we muslims beleive in this, and those who don't believe in it are Terrorits, so surely not the muslims ...... We condemn all such acts of terrorism which are carried by muslims and all muslims hate such things because it is definitely a disgrace to our religion!!
Now why peoples hate all muslims...So only one word for that "brainwahsed" , yes they are brainwashed agaisnt islam, media project islam that way......and they follow it blindly.....All muslims are not terrorist just like all jews, christains ,hindus etc are not terrorists, terrorism is one's own act., not religious.......but i m sorry to say peoples don't accept this reality ..it should not be generalized to all muslim community. but the fact is that whoever is favoured by media is "good" and whome media doesn't support is "evil and this is true for muslims.... they are the one who have no favour from media due to some reasons.and thats why they are evil.......media have made projected them evil not religion !!
Peace Be With You !

Well, I think the problem is not only 9/11 and other terrorist acts, but also everytime someone says anything in passing (the Pope, quoting someone else) they respond with violence and threats, and any time a cartoon of Mohammad shows up they respond with violence and threats. Anytime anyone says anything or does anything that they find offensive - they immediately respond with violence and death threats. I'm not saying all Muslims do this - but a large majority do. That's why people don't like them. I hate saying that - but it's true.

The hatred is created by mainstream media and our politicians. Historically, they have been in the forefront of fomenting hatred, because it is instrumental in creating DIVIDE AND CONQUER.
The Muslims are just like us. I have lived in Islamic countries (Morocco and Iraq) and visited a couple more (Kuwait and Qatar), and the people have been very kind and friendly to me.
I get the impression that things might be different in Saudi Arabia and Iran. That is probably a result of the propaganda put out by their politicians and radical clerics.
People are the same in every country that I have been in, and I have been in quite a few. Why should we hate anyone?
I am not referring to the suicide bombers. These people are nuts. They are not Islamic martyrs, like the media tells us. Islamic martyrs, like Christian martyrs are people who die for their faith, not people who kill themselves and their enemies.
Most Muslims are very tolerant and friendly towards Christians. Why should Christians not reciprocate?

you're totally correct. but to answer your question, i think psychology is needed. people hate because they fear. they fear muslims now because of 911. even your statements tend to corroborate the notion that hatred for groups of individuals are due to the times in which the hatred occurs. all i can say is that i am married to a muslim woman--she's indian, i am american--and i have seen the hatred you speak about. but of course, not all people hate, and atheists, for example, don't hate any more than religious people (let's face it, religion invented the crusades and the jihad). we need to come together as humans, not as christians, jews, muslims, germans, americans, etc. Just humans. because, as the great american father of psychiatry, harry stack sullivan, once said: " We are all, more or less human."

I agree completely.
I think it is the nature of many people to need a scapegoat, a group to vilify. People who are different in any way make easy targets. It is made even easier when the government not only condones such thinking but encourages it.
People need to realize that it is foolhardy to assume that "all" of any group think or act alike. Those who make the big noises get noticed, but it is unfair to assume that everyone of the same group is like the noisemakers.

The mid east terrorist profess to be Muslims and claim to be fighting a holy war. While it is not right to lump all Muslims in that category, the Muslim world doesn't speak out much against what is going on. If they did it would help.
