I have never breed parakeets, but i have 2 here. It must be similar to other birds when its time to lay eggs/mate. I'd say try to buy a good nesting box or just a nest from the Pet Stores. They should offer a good variety... they will prefer closed ones. And give them tissue that you will break in pieces, they will work it in the nest if its a good environment. Don't give them anything like strings, it will get stuck in the legs and cut blood circulation. You need a quiet and warm room to leave them in. A good ventilation is also needed. If after all that, she won't lay eggs, then she is not ready. But keep hopes, if you have a male and a female, and they are confortable, they eventually will. Good luck !

They start ripping things around in their cage to look for nesting material. Offer her a safe box and some nesting material (it comes in a little box at the pet store.) If you have a male budgie with her, you may contemplate separating them if he becomes too nosy.
