I had my nose pierced in 2000. Last year, I had to remove the stud - as a result, I needed it re-pierced in September.

Since then it has hurt on and off. Yesterday it started hurting again - it's now a bit swollen and there's a bit of pus (sorry, I know it's icky). From 2000 to last year, I never had any trouble with my piercing whatsoever, but now, it's nothing BUT trouble.

~Why is it taking so long to heal?

~Should I just remove the stud and forget about it?

~Any other advice please?

If anyone has experience of this and can offer any advice, I would be most grateful.

I had my nose pierced around 10yrs ago now, must admit it hurt like hell when i first had it done. Had to bathe it 3-4 times a day, i used tea tree oil diluted in tepid water. My had some pus coming out of it and i changed the stud i had it done with to a tiny gold one. With continuous bathing and the gold stud it didnt hurt after that. I had my belly button done around 4yrs ago now and bathed that in tea tree oil had no problems with it. Also my son had his eyebrow pierced and the piercing shop recommended tea tree oil. Its a good natural source of antiseptic. Give it a try hope this helps xxx

she has had 2 or 3 piercings in both years for about 10 years and has never had any trouble with them

Yes, please take it out and let it close up. It's a sign that you shouldn't have it when it keeps doing this.

Believe me. Nose piercings are NOT attractive. Sorry, but it's true.
