Read Kahlil Gibran's "The Prophet" for lovely ideas. And Edna St. Vincent Millay poetry, especially one called "Love is not all."

MY best advice is read a lot of poetry or romantic stories-and then start writing-- a whole bunch, just keep writing. Then after several pages, you will start hearing your voice in your head.
Keep writing.
Then GO back and sort out what you like the most, and cut out a whole lot. Rearrange things to fit together.
Out of that , you will figure out something to say. A poem doesn't have to rhyme, but be expressive of FEELINGS, and with no extra words just hanging there doing nothing.

I would appreciate an original thought even if it wasn't perfect from my daughter. Read your "poem" to 10 people and ask for their honest review. Post it on here for feedback.
Good luck.
I am with the love of my life after a life of ups, downs, starting over. I couldn't be happier if i was 2 people.
My children told me this: I am so happy for you. You deserve the best. They were positve about my new man. I am so happy Ilight up the room. I am proud of you for being brave enough to love again and so devotedly. Thank you for teachinge me how to love! Thank you for giving me lovely childhood memories like....I hope I find the love of MY life, too. I won't settle for less.
I say, Tell her to communicate, negotiate, and initiate and she will stay a newly-wed forever.
Good luck and congrats to your family.

I think this is a simply beautiful sentiment just in general:

Blessing For A Marriage
James Dillet Freeman

May your marriage bring you all the exquisite excitements a marriage should bring, and may life grant you also patience, tolerance, and understanding.

May you always need one another - not so much to fill your emptiness as to help you to know your fullness. A mountain needs a valley to be complete; the valley does not make the mountain less, but more; and the valley is more a valley because it has a mountain towering over it. So let it be with you and you.

May you need one another, but not out of weakness.
May you want one another, but not out of lack.
May you entice one another, but not compel one another.
May you embrace one another, but not out encircle one another.
May you succeed in all important ways with one another, and not fail in the little graces.
May you look for things to praise, often say, "I love you!" and take no notice of small faults.

If you have quarrels that push you apart, may both of you hope to have good sense enough to take the first step back.

May you enter into the mystery which is the awareness of one another's presence - no more physical than spiritual, warm and near when you are side by side, and warm and near when you are in separate rooms or even distant cities.
May you have happiness, and may you find it making one another happy.
May you have love, and may you find it loving one another!

Today you have a new ring, a circle of gold.

As with the ring on your finger, your life has also been a ring, a circle of family, of friends, of relationships past.

In this ring of love you include us all here today and in this ring shall you proceed in love.

In this ring you form an unending bond with not only the two of you, but with us all as well.

In this ring we share also with you our love and support.

In this ring we bless and nurture your marriage.

In this ring we are all, now, a family.

Congratulations and love to you both.

I could give you my heart and soul
All my assets furnishings and gold
I could show compassion when you're ill
Make sure of neccessities you have your fill
I could admire your brilliant mind
Give you compliments of the best kind
I could praise your accomplishments
Thank you for sharing those moments
I could keep you in warm embrace
Scatter kisses upon your fine face
I could shower you with all my love
However, when push comes to shove
It still wouldn't be enough to change
Your soul, that is kept in God's range
