It may be due to an infection starting. Check to see if your dog has a fever (feel his/her nose, if its dry and hot, thats a good indication of fever). It could also be due to dust or other allergies. If the discharge isnt discolored (dark yellow or greenish), I wouldnt worry about it because it might just be a blocked tear duct. Wipe it with a warm rag and keep an eye on it.

If it's just watery, I would say it's merely irritated, and if it's not cleared up in a few days, then take him to a vet. However, if it seems like he's not focusing on anything with the eye, if it seems really red, or getting a glazed look, it could be a sign of an infection and take him to the vet asap for some antibiotics. Normally, though, especially during winter months, their eyes merely get irritated.

(s)he might have an ulcer in her eye. If it keeps up for more then 2 or 3 days you need to take her to the vet...especially if she holds the ne eye shut a lot and/or the lid around it looks swollen

He could either have a cold in his eye or he has his cornia scratched or have an ulcer in his eye. You need to bring him to the vet before it gets worse

he may have something in it,or has scratched it, rinse it with water if it gets worse see your vet

maybe hes sick and he's crying because he doesnt understand why your asking us this instead of taking him to the vet to find out whats wrong with him.....maybe, just maybe
