i see so many arguing about creation V evolution
yet ive just scrolled through some parts in Genesis and i dont see what the fuss is
accepting evolution does not prove creation wrong
it is merely different wording ...
given the time that the bible was written , it was an easy explaination for something big
biblical words for something that we may now understand as science
why do people hang on to the literal content , thus creating a great divide between science and religion .... when it CAN be compatible ?

C.O.G
now even that is taken literally
but if you think about metaphorically ... it is only giving an example of the magic of creation ... again not totally uncompatible with science

I am not saying it is useful in a scientific way ... but maybe people could relate better on both sides of the fence with this , if understood and accepted in this way

Not a Christian but I used to be and yes I believed in evolution, big bang theory, gravity, theory of relativity, quantum physics (only read the easy layman's version).

This was my thing I love the poetry of Genesis, I think it is beautiful and i think this is often missed when it is considered factual. To me the language points to it being intended to be a beautiful story told to glorify the goodness that is God and to help to understand his importance and great part in creation. It is wonderful imagery and i think most people loose site of that.

For a compromise to be reached, religion (creation) would have to back off and start agreeing with science (evolution). Then the two would be in accord and all would be well. But it cannot go the other way - science does not change just because a religion doesn't like the conclusions reached.

HandofJustice21 makes an interesting point by linking atheism to evolution. Sounds like he's saying science disproves god... I think he's gone a bit far, and is missing the fact that atheism has no connection to evolution. Evolution is SCIENCE. Atheism is disbelieving in god/gods. They are not the same. There are plenty of religious people who agree with evolution (many of whom are scientists).

oooohhhh level 7!!!

well, u need to read the bible, not just scan through it.
there are people that believe in both, but it simply cant be.

if u read the whole of genesis properly, u will know that 'sin' did not come before eve sinned, so that would mean death, pain , and suffering, could not have come before adam and eve.
(in the time of of dinos there was lots of pian and suffering)

there are people that belive that the bible is literal.
and they can almost prove it, except their theories are so farfetched.

heres an example of how there explanations for the bible.

(search the internet for 'answers in genesis' for more on this )

i dont think christians should be able to pick and choose which parts of the bible to take literally and which parts not to.its just stupid.

i think its either , eveolution, or christianity explained with facts that i would go for. (which would never happen)

Not quite sure what you're saying here. Am slightly confused.
"Biblical words for something that we may now understand as science".
Is that referring to the idea that science was something created by Him, so at the end of it evolution is a result of a God? If so its an interesting concept but it find it slightly tedious that religion uses the argument of creating science.

Nice try, but Science can NEVER be compatible with unprovable fiction. Science is a discipline, not a belief system, and therefore requires the application of facts/logic/proof/peer review, and measurable and repeatable results. To suggest that Science should adopt the lax superstitious approach to important matters, is something that will, never, never, happen.

The problem is the evolution atheists talk about is naturalistic evolution to which they believe had no creator or supervisor. If God created us slowly from animals I believe he would have said so but he didnt. Moses was very specific and said that we were formed from the dust.

If you are a believer you have no reason to accept any part of naturalistic evolution other than to appease atheists that are trying to call you stupid for believing in God and mock him daily.

That's what most Catholics do -- they interpret the Bible's Creation Myth as a poem of God's use of Evolution.

I don't see how it's useful in any meaningfully scientific way, but whatever floats your boat.

Because the truth is black and white.
Not gray, to be gray is a merging of thoughts and ideas we never get to the bottom of the matter or the truth.
Something in life are not a matter of opinions but of facts.
Some people would rather enjoy the publicity that their opinions give them than to teach the truth that has been around for thousands of years.
If your life was in danger and you were given 2 options, one in black and white the other gray, which would you choose to save your life?
Truth based on Facts or opinions based on someones ego?

.Evolution is only theory, not a scientific fact. The life of Jesus is a historical fact.People like Mao,Hitler and others were influenced by evolution.Ordinarily,I wouldn't care about them, but when atheists want to keep out Intelligent Design out of public school ,it is a worrying thought.

evolution proves 100percent that creation is a fairy tale it came from some scrolls by the dead sea it is a man made fairy tale if it was writern to day it might have been star wars or lord of the rings but it would not have been turned into a religion
