I've taken 7 doses of the antibiotics so far since Tuesday (when I first went to the doctor), but I feel as if it is doing nothing. My throat is more sore, other cold symptoms are still there, and the fever comes back every night, I wake up sweating in the morning. I'm more than a little worried at this point.

When is it supposed to start clearing up? Maybe I'm just overreacting.

Strep usually responds to Amoxicillin but in recently there have been a number of cases where the infection has not completly cleared up. In other words you may have a resistant organism and you should talk to your doctor as they may want to switch you to another antibiotic

If you have a cold, antibiotics won't do a thing because it's a virus. It sounds though, that you've had the test for strep throat at the doctor's office and it was diagnosed. Another antibiotic may be needed because not all antibiotics do the same thing, meaning they don't target every type of bacteria present in the body, or the dosage may be too low. Another strep test may be necessary to confirm that it is actually strep throat in order to avoid unnecessary antibiotic usage.

Watch out! Too much of antibiotics may give you a tummy upset. Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html
