i have bamboo shades that i use on my gazebo,that is also bambo,but the shades developed mildew please help

If possible I would take them down and spread them out so they can get some sun.Then mix up some lemon ammonia and HOT water then take a broom and dip it, then scrub the shades.Then rinse with water hose and let SUN dry, that might take it out.Be careful of bleach and water, will fade out the bamboo.The sun may do a little fading so watch when they dry.Don't forget to put some lemon oil on them to give a little moisture back...hope this helps...

Try using antibacterial dishsoap. Sounds kinda crazy, but it worked on my bamboo dresser I have in my bathroom. I just used a stronger solution than you would normally use to wash dishes.

You may also want to try Mr. Clean Eraser. That works wonders on a lot of things and won't hurt your bamboo

Zinseer makes a good product, it's called JOMAX and its a mildew&stain remover, this comes in a spray bottle and cost about$6. I garuntee it will eat any mildew you've got. Excellent product. good luck

If the mold is topical, use a solution of detergent and water. DO NOT use bleach, it won't kill the mold. Incidentally, Jomax is only recommended for exterior use.
If the mold has stained the wood, you will have to clean, then use a wood bleach to remove the staining. Good luck.
