To tell you the truth I think people are so rushed these days they are not really "thinking" what they are doing while cooking....it's rush rush rush! They turn the heat up on the burners too high and the smoke starts forming...then they SHOULD but don't turn on the exhaust fan.....about that time their cell phone rings and they are standing there at the stove with their head bent to the side not thinking of what they are doing.....the food needs to be turned over but NOOOOOO...they have to chat on the phone....lol.....the fried chicken is getting some extra browning that it doesn't need....poor bird! The water is boiling out of the potatoes and is scorching ....the cook panics and turns on the front burner instead of the back burner...everything ends up over fried or undercooked.....what I'm trying to say is cooking takes concentration...not something you do when you are doing other things that are also important. No wonder people are so worn out at the end of the day.....they try and pack too much into the time they have off....It just takes a little time to get things going on the stove for dinner so a person could resist the cell phone until after dinner is over. It would be more relaxing and more enjoyable by all with a better outcome for the people eating and the cook!
Plus they need to have a SMOKE ALARM!

Give them a break they're trying. It's part of the learning process.
