does it really make that much sense, to waste the only life that is proven that you have on worshipping a being, following this beings "commands" and converting others to believe the same, when you cant even prove whether he exists?

if 8 hrs a night is what we are supposed to get for sleep, that means we are, or should be, sleeping 1/3 of our life. if we live to be 60, then 20 years will be spent in the "sleeping" state.
we get 8 hours of work, and close to that in school, with weekends off, thats another good chunk of our life taken. that means we really only get a small amount for ourselves. why would an all knowing and all loving god expect mortal creatures who realize this, to waste that precious little time they have worshipping him?

wouldnt he rather we be happy? would your parents rather you spend time thanking them for everything or would they rather see you go out and be happy in life? (id rather see my child happy then have my child constantly thanking me for things

so, if u spend lets say 30 minutes a day worshipping, then thats .5*365 = 182.5hrs. lets say 40 years. thats 182.5*40 = 7300 hrs, now lets add a day for each leap year day, thats another 10 days at 30minutes = 5 hrs. thats 7305 hrs spent worshipping a god that may or may not exist. which is approximately 304 full 24 hour days. thats about a year of your life you've lost dedicating to a being that may not be there.

why not spend that time with your family?

Christians have faith they will live forever. So 30 minutes a day now may seem like too much, but while some people believe they will just die, christians believe they will dedicate those 30 minutes for trillions of years. This amount of time comes out to more, than if they would not have dedicated teh 30 minutes daily, and end up dying and your done.

If God does not exist then what do I need another year of life for? Study more? It is not like I won't end up burried next to the bum who can't read or write. Why read a book, or go to school? Aqulis (I doubt I spelled that correctly) was a great warrior, who fought hard so that people would remember him for years to come. What do they know him for? Thats right, the heel, the way he died. He fought so hard, so that people remember him when they hurt their heel. If God does not exist, I don't need the extra year.

Success in this world is sick. Celeberties last a few years, the better ones a little longer, but before you know it, the new generations don't even know who that person is. Athletes could be incredible, but when an athlete is about to die in a hospital from a heart attack, do you think he cares if he played a perfect season with the dolphins in '72?

And who are you to tell anyone they are wasting their life. Were you made the supreme being when I wasn't looking? How do you know my mind and what make me happy? I am sorry to blow up that way but I have had it with you superior intellectuals telling anyone what is best for them. You say we go around throwing faith and God into your faces and this is the way you really feel! Hypocrite! You have heard the message of life that Christians have been commanded to take to the world or it sounds as if you have. Because of that my duty to you in complete. You have made a choice to reject life, fine die then... just don't tell me that the way of the world with it's crime and cruelty is the way to happiness.. I most likely been in this world a lot longer than you. I have seen first hand how the decline in faith in God has changes America. It isn't a good change. People are more cruel, more violet. I will hold my faith and except the gift of life He offers.. Jim

It doesnt make sense for unbelievers to but it makes sense for us to because we already know God exists having information the unbeliever doesnt have. Now one could argue that unbelievers do have a recessed knowledge of God and therefore they are just denying it keeping them from serving God by their own hearts desires which are evil.

Do you consider your kids obeying you and visiting you a waste of time? That is how God views our worship.

Would it make you happy as a parent if your kid was "made happy" by engaging in porn and drugs? God disapproves of certain behavior and he is more interested in the truth first and formost rather than self-gratification. Youre trying to humanize God by assuming that he wants what you want, to live a life apart from him existing only to gratify your desires and that is not what God is all about.

you dont have kids do you

first its not only just thanking Him - its having a relationship with Him and as a parent that is what I want

second its learning what He wants and expects from us and what is the right thing to do so we do have an enjoyable life - parents want that for their kids to

but instead our kids think they know it all and try to do things that arent correct or arent safe and they get themselves in trouble or hurt - the very thing the parents advice was trying to help them avoid

that is why we should spend that little bit of time you described with our Heavenly Father that want nothing but the best for us

the Christian life is not boring or plain but it does require a humble spirit and an open heart

You know something, I worship this God because He deserved it when He lived as a human, and chose to die for me... He deserves my praise because He is worthy... He might even send me to hell and I would still worship the risen Lamb of God. Because He's worth it. I don't need to do things so that I would feel good or that I would be happy or gain anything. Because He deserves my praise! Enough of this selfish attitude - don't you get it that when you say "wouldnt he rather we be happy," you want your selfish desires to be accomplished?!? And I don't worship my God because He makes me happy. I worship Him because, even when I feel down, He is still worthy!

Let me put this to you nice and simple.

Those that worship this "being" that you speak of do so with FAITH.

Faith, is believing in something when common sense tells you not to.

Most people only partake in the elements of religion that they enjoy. Thus, it is just another activity that they do for themselves.

i hear you chippy some people just choose not to want to think about certain things so you would be best leaving them to themselves as you can lead a horse to the water but you can't force it to drink the water
