No - there would be more managers needed.
The e-mail system, along with other management tools, has speeded up the throughput of managerial decisions, thus increasing the amount of work that can be done by one manager in a day.
It may not work that way where you are, or at least, not seem to, but that is really how the system does operate.

e-mails are a fast and cheaper means of communication n of course it will bring some setbacks if its discontinued but i dnt see why the managers would go unemployed as there are other ways for communication too,and have some heart for that guy who purchased a mail based service imagine all the dollars down d the drain

Good point!!! I kind of like your question because e-mail, while efficient, also has created all sorts of workplace stress. I mean, it is like a bubble machine that never stops and if you "look away" for ten minutes and miss a work action or meeting announcement, you are frustrated. I kind of like the simplicity of...what's it called? Oh yeah, talking to each other!!!

that will never happen though as there is a hundred and one or more ways to send an email you can even send a text from a puter or sort out a simple way to just send a file lol microsoft dont own everything..even peer to peer programs could be converted to work as a type of email system and we all know how hard it is for the sour pusses to controll them. its all part of the war against the new world order apparently.

In some aspects it can greatly hinder their function as managers, but thank GOD we always come up with alternatives and sometimes alternatives are better than the ones replaced. There are plenty of options and ways to instant access or communications, so if email is gone, managers can still survive!

From a technical p.o.v, e-mail would never be discontinued.
There are over two million email providers out there - and then there are the ones associated with ISPs: eg AOL, Yahoo!; government organisations; academic authorities - eg Universities; and privatley owned email domains.

Maybe not in the unemployment but everyone these days would be at a loss. They will have to start being proactive and calling or using snail mail again.

perhaps... although i've a sneaky feeling the post room workers union rep's would be rubbing their hands together in glee, with the words 'strike' and 'paydeal' flashing before their very eyes...

I agree. :)
But there are some better managers whom I met in my career, they can still survive... without email... bcos they shout at thier people to get the things done... ;)
