i was told i can claim my disabled spouse as a dependent if she's 65 or older' is this right? does the age matter if disabled?

Yes you can. you can claim her if, she lives with you, you pay more than 50% of her overall needs (food, clothing, etc)

If you were married at the end of 2006 you would be claiming as a Filing status Married Filing Jointly, you would be able to claim her exemption along with your own, If she is over the age of 65 there is an additional amount that is added to the Standard deduction to increase it.

You always claim an exemption for the spouse as long as you file jointly. She is not your dependent. You get two more exemptions as she older than 65 and disabled.

you can claim your spouse because she's your spouse. She's your spouse, not a "dependent." Words have specific meaning when it comes to law. There are extra deductions because she's 65
