Hi Alissa...in all honesty the only way to stop the heat cycle is to have your cat spayed. Each heat cycle she becomes more at risk for mammary, uterine, ovarian cancer.
There are many shelters worldwide who offer very low fee (even FREE) spay/neuter services. If you are located in the USA you can locate a participating free/low fee spay neuter clinic in your region from the following website: http://www.petsandanimals.org/spayneuter_services.html or ringing 1-800 SPAY USA http://spayusa.org

Unless you are a purebred cat breeder, I strongly suggest having your female spayed ASAP! Queens (female breeding cats) also urine "mark" their territory & many breeds of cats (Siamese in particular & Exotic Shorthair as well)) are prone to mammary cancer if left intact, but not bred! Unlike dogs, who experience 1 heat cycle every 6 months, the female cat comes into a heat cycle every month for approximately one week! Also, the longer you wait to spay her, the more difficult & expensive the proceedure becomes. I am not trying to scare you, these are just the facts! I have both cats & show dogs & speak from experience.. Surely there is a shelter or program near you that will help defray some of the cost of spaying your girl.Check out your local SPCA or call some different veterinary hospitals & compare some prices, most will give you an approximate estimate over the phone, good luck

Have to laugh!!!!! We once had a cat that went into heat the first time and was so obnoxious that we put her on the balcony of our 2nd story townhouse and that fixed the horrible noises and crazy behavior. Little did we know that soon we had 5 more to deal with, yes she got her groove on!!! From that point on no sooner than she could get away from the kittens (mind you, eyes still shut at the moment) out the door and leaping from the balcony she would go. We referred to her as our welfare cat, she must have thought the more she had, the more toys, food, treats, and anything fun for her would be brought home!!! Needless to say, she left us with the last 4 kittens and ran away with her parking lot lover! We only know this because we would catch a glimpse of her and that pimp hanging out around the complex every once in a blue moon!

A heat will last about 2 weeks if you are finding out that your cats heat is lasting longer or that she goes into heat, goes out of heat and right back in please take her to the vet. Pyometria (sorry can not spell that word) is not as uncommon as once thought! I have 2 cats that have gotten it and the surgery with this disease is way more then just fixing them. They get this disease because they are not fixed young enough. One female was only 6 months and she was scheduled to go in and then the signs of this showed!! Get her fix as soon as possible please Our cat cost us a total of 2500.00 before everything was done!! She was well worth it though!!

The same thing happened to my cat. Each cat is different and their heats last for dif amounts of time. The vet told me that there honestly was nothing you could do but to get her fixed to solve the problem completely.

Sometimes there a places within your community that would help fund nutering and spaying your animals. Check your newspaper or call your local humane society to see if there are any organizations that sponsor events like that.
If there are any male cats around keep them away from her. She can pick up a males scent a long way which stimulates her "friskiness"

Cats can pretty much stay in heat continuously until they are bred or spayed. Your only option is get her spayed! There are low cost spay/neuter clinics in every state. Contact your local humane society, animal control, or animal rescue and they can likely help you out.

normally a cat is on heat for a week or two, you just need to leave her be, she will soon snap out of it. if u dnt give her any attention she will soon curl up sumwhere and go to sleep that will stop the noise for a few hours! hope this helps!

There is nothing you can do to get her to stop. She will be in heat for 2-3 weeks at a time.

You took the responsibility of your cats health and happiness when you got her. Do what you have to and borrow or find the money somehow to have her neutered. If you have to skip a few meals out or a few movies, it will be worth it.
