Hiya - It might work for you. What is generally helpful is to realise that depression is usually a simple chemical imbalance in the area of the brain, but unfortunately, this imbalance affects the way you think and feel.
I have suffered this too for a long period and i sympathise with you, it isn't nice.
Firstly have you seen a doctor about some appropriate medical help to correct the chemical imbalance in the brain?
The newer type of drugs can be very effective and get you back somewhere to feeling a bit more like your old self.
Secondly, a retreat is a great idea, just as a break anyway!! why not.
Lastly, ask the doctor to arrange for some personal councelling with a psychologist used to rehabilitating those who suffer from depression. It can be very benficial to just be able to talk things through with an expert.
Hope things get better for you soon - very best wishes

So sorry to hear how much you are suffering. I grew up with a mother who had social phobia and can understand how hard things must be for you.
I looked at the Green Pastures website and it seems good.
You know this is not a "cure" I'm sure: but it may give you some time and space just for yourself.
You know you can't run away from yourself but maybe different surroundings will enable you to take the next step forward.
Whatever you decide i wish you all the very best. x

I know from my own experience from being in and out of the hospitals for my many overdoses that there is a light at the end of tunnel.
Are you on any medication though some may be agains't it I myself find they do help.
Don't give up or give into the depression as it took me 20 to 30 yrs. before I feel I've found my way out. I also suffer from anxiety and panic attacks.
Just to let you know I'm going to eventually start up a web site geared for young people like yourself. If you need to talk I'm here for you.
I look forward to opening my web site to help others in need. Just know your not alone.

Your retreat is within you. You're battling your not understood life; referred to by society as depression. Going places helps you search, feel and find things, but you are not going to get the answer.
Enjoy the trip if you choose, but most of all find it in you to enjoy the search for you life's answers. All it takes is getting up, even though you really don't want to.

go to P.G.H. on the internet, 'people's gospel hour' yes there is a God, and the only true God is the Father of Jesus. Focus on His word, His love for you, and don't focus on yourself, we are all sinners, that is why we need a savior,.we cannot save oursleves- [from hell] the good news is Christ loves you and He died for you, but you have to go to Him he won't force you. We all feel depression at times, but this can be temporary, be careful of which retreat you go to--make sure it's bible based. Proverbs- 3:6, 'in all your ways acknowledge Him and he will direct your ways'

Retreats can be very expensive and a waste of money if you're not commited to it and it doesn't work. Try meditation, if you can't do it yourself, find a class. It's cheaper and something you can do at home whenever you need. Meditation can be very spiritual or just plain relaxing. either way it helps

The only way to get over a social phobia - is to be around people.
I would say, try a coffee shop. See what happens
Depression - try and remember the things that "YOU" did that make you happy and try doing those things again.

Yes it should help.
One step at a time. OK?
I used to have the depression and social phobia.
One day I made myself go out. I hated it -it was horrible.
But now I can go anywhere.
