He has no body hair whatsoever now, and his Dr. says it's permanent. Can Celexa really do that to a person? This just sounds so bizarre to me.

It's obviously possible. Stress can do strange things to people so it doesn't surprise me your friend's hair fell out... although I would have guessed it would have fallen BEFORE taking the meds. Perhaps his Dr. should try another brand as that may be a sideaffect of a component in Celexa.

The side effects out of the Physicians' Desk Reference that I have are:
Nausea, dyspepsia, vomiting, diarrhea, dry mouth, somnolence, insomnia, increased sweating, ejaculation disorder, rhinitis, anxiety, anorexia, skeletal pain, and agitation.
Not everyone is going to get these symptoms.
