The point is that the Monotheistic Faith introduced by the Israelites in the 6th Century BC automatically eliminated all the other Deities of the Ancient religions. At the time of King Solomon (circa 900BC) polytheism was still alive and the deity named YHWH was just a minor one worshipped by very few people (among which Salomon himself); until the 6th century BC EVERY religion was polytheistic and deities were both, female and males; then the Bible compilers decided to create a new Monotheistic religion based on a signle MALE Deity, in order to unite all the different tribes worshipping different deities, and weaken the preminent role women had at that time. Given that Sumerians report that none of the Lords and Ladies come down from Heaven were immortal, it becomes clear that the concept of 'immortality' was related only much much later to that of Deity. For this reason, being myself an Atheist, I must say that I obviously don't believe in any God (be it female or male), defined as 'an immortal, omnipotent and omnipresent being'; however, given the historical records, I see no reason why there shouldn't be female 'deities' too other than male ones, since there have always been;)

Well, obviously most people think that God is a man due to the patriarchal society that we all live in (and one in which Christianity was founded in) I prefer to think, "God is..." There is no reason to believe that God is one sex or the other if God is truly GOD. If God is indeed limitless, why would we attempt to "limit" the concept of God by placing this concept in one gender or the other (let alone in a human form at all)? Humans can in no way fathom a being that created EVERYTHING. Why would we put a "limit" on what GOD is or could be?

We know that God is in the form of a man because he has shown himself to a few and those few have told us He is in the form of a man.

God tells us He is male in the Bible. There is not one reference to any part of the Trilogy where God is refered ti as female.
What's your problem with God being a male? Sounds like either a little insecurity on your part or you have a hidden feminist agenda.
God is who He is. If He says He is male, then He is male. In fact, there is no reference to any angels being female...all male.
So what...Christ (a male) died for us all, so both male and female can have eternal life.

Jesus (God-incarnate) was a MAN> Yet God is an eternal spiritual being and has no physical gender, but God revealed himself to us as having "masculine" traits. God is also reffered to as our heavenly "Father". Man was created in God's image, and woman was created in man's image
