Well if you're like me you look forward to the days off more than work, and tend to have stuff to do, so you get up earlier anyway to make the most of it.

Whereas the thought of just getting up to go to work is off putting. Probably psychological or something...

I have the same problem and I absolutely hate it!!!! I am so sick of not being able to sleep in on my days off! I am usually so tired from the week, that i want to sleep in. But no, I can't possibly sleep past 8: *explicitive* 30! I hate it! I also will wake up at like 7:30 and have a hard time getting back to sleep. It drives me completely insane! I can't take it anymore!

I do hate my job, with a passion. I also hate school. I do enjoy my internship and my days off though...it is easier getting up for those.

You have to answer a couple of questions about your sleep first. Do you grind your teeth? Do you snore? Do you have apnea (not breathing)? If you answer YES to any of these, you have a sleep deficit.
If you snore, try the breathe right strips. If that doesn't work after 7 days, you should see your doctor.
If you grind your teeth, try the Doctor's Nightgard. It will stop you from clenching your jaw and grinding your teeth.
If you stop breathing in your sleep, you should see your doctor.
All of these can cause a sleep deficit that over time can lead to health issues.
If you don't have any of these symptoms, you should try some yoga before bed to relax you and make sure that the TV is off before you climb into bed. That just stimulates the mind and makes it tougher to fall asleep. I hope this helps

I am the same exact way for school! I have to wake up at 5:30 but I cant so I sleep in for 30 minutes lol But when it is a normal day, I wake up at around 8 or 9, when during summer I'll wake up at around 2. It is because youre training yourself to get up early, but you arent able to wake up THAT early, or something like that. Hope I made a little sense!

you do not say what job your in ? i think its your job, too much stress ? and on your days off you could be worring about going back into to work, with me its the opposite i start work at 03:00 and even on my days off still wake up at 03:00 i have been told my problem is the body clock ?. the only thing i could suggest have a talk with your local doctor. i hope you sort the problem out

You could be very unhappy with your job, or really stressed about it or something related to it. As for not sleeping in...perhaps your body is so used to getting up at the same time, it's programmed itself (in a way) to get up. I know I can't sleep more than an hour or so more than 'normal' on the weekend.

Used to have same problem. On work days, make sure that you get as much sleep as possible ie go to bed early. On days off, if you can't sleep in, try lying in bed as long as possible. Even if you are not actually sleeping, your body will still get rest.

I'm the same, it's psychological. You get up early when you don't have to because you're looking forward to your day off. Also, I agree with what other's have said, youre body clock is working Mon-Fri and doesn't just switch off on the weekends

OMG i am like the same way. that is a good question..but my understanding on it is that the chemicals in ya brain knows that you got to get up the next day so u know u have to get sleep...so it kinda stresses ya a lil so it is harder for you to fall asleep. but on the weekends when you know u can sleep in your mind is at ease which is less stressful and u can sleep better.....

You don't really want to go to work, so your body is trying to tell you it's bored!!! On your day off, the day could be more interesting, you can do what you want (within reason), so it won't be an average (samey) day!!! It's much easier to get up to the unknown, than the known. xxx
