All SSRI drugs take some time to get used to. It takes a while for the serotin levels in the brain to level out. Often it can take 2-3 weeks for this to happen, and those first couple of weeks will see limited benefit or possibly worse feelings. Be ready for some unpleasant feelings until they kick in. Talk to your doctor, they should have given you a better warning about the effects.

Ok, take a deep breath - you are okay. You are just experiencing some of the common side effects that will go away. I was on Effexor for years and I can remember when I took it for the first time and almost everytime we upped my dosage, I would get jumpy, almost anxious and I woke up once or twice with tremors. But the side effects go away rather quickly. You will be fine. Did you talk to your doctor about your concerns? The only bad experiences I had with it were 1. when my body would get used to it after a year or so and I would go into withdrawl and 2. when I decided to go off it and I went through withdrawl. That was bad. Good Luck!

Effexor is one of the good drugs it comes in XR meaning extended relief ..you have only taken one pill, these meds take time to work you are jumping the gun relax and communicate with your doctor....you are taking a very low dose and stop reading about all bad experiences...give yourself a chance and calm down ...luv kara

I've been on Effexor about 5 years at 600mg a day and I never had any bad side effects except when I missed taking them. Did you remember to take them with food and plenty of water???

PEACE & LOVE & ALL THAT

**** PLEASE NOTE ******

I found that if I forgot my meds early in the morning and took them after lunch, later in the p.m. that I would inevitably hardly get any sleep at all !!!

Try taking them as early as you can. Stick a note to remind yourself on the fridge door or something.... :)
