I'm getting my first tattoo maybe this weekend and would like any recommendations on tattoo parlors and artists in the 5 boroughs that are great. Please help.

there are tons of great tattoo artists in new york. but probably not tons of them that will be available for an appointment this weekend. most artists great artists are fairly booked ahead of time. if i were you i would put off the tattoo and go for a talented artist. i have experience in this area. my first three tattoos were done by artists that had no artistic ability whatsoever. i just walked in and got the tattoo. i didn't know any better. now they are all covered up with good tattoos but i wish i had had good ones to start with.

She might not be in your area, but check out Stacey Sharp. Judging from her portfolio and from people who have her work, she's worth the drive. And for something so permanent as a tatto, I would hope that the biggest issue isn't the proximity of the studio.

i personally got to get my tattoos done in Brooklyn. This place is Legendary and the shop owners are well known at conventions. Go to http://www.divineinktattoos.com. They are awesome people, very nice, and not very expensive at all!
