That depends if the person that is listening or watching the evangelist already has a faith or belief or thought towards chirstianity? It also depends on if they see the evangelist as that of a God. What i am trying to say here is that if the person already has a solid faith then no this would not turn them. It is from my experience that a christian would see it as that the evangelist is the one that hurt themself in this as they themself have sinned and have to answer to God. They did not sin by preaching the message of God to others. They simply preach and ultimately it is up to the individual to CHOOSE if they wish to believe or not. If they CHOOSE to latch on to the pastor as their belief and their voices to God then that is their own mistake and their own problem.

It was not false what TRULY happened in others lives even though it may have been under false pretenses.

If one turns from christianity as a "result of an evangelist" it is simply an excuse for the fact they were pretty much not truly one with God to begin with or a true believer of this Christ they claimed to have been saved by.

Another point is that people make the choice especially today with all the facts out there, that when they listen to these evangelists, or pastors and CHOOSE to give their money or NOT that they may be real or may be false.

As with anything else in life.... QUIT BLAMING SOMEONE ELSE! Take responsibility for the CHOICES you make!!! Also, you don't HAVE to give money!!! They do not force your hand. I have been to many many many different churches. They ask and pray and do NOT force anyone's hands.

I will give you a DEFINITE YES on that one! Never trusted a TV preacher or used car salesmen myself. Now I am not talking about the local church's Sunday morning broadcast when I say that.
Think everybody knows what I mean and the ones I am talking about. i.e. the ones who are always trying to get you to send money for things like prayer clothes with so called holy powers, The ones who are making big shows of supposed healing etc. the ones who are always saying all other denominations are bad etc.
The ones that tell you if you send him your last $10 dollars (instead of buying food for the kids) God will give you a $100 or $1000 dollars back in return.
The ones that tell you they have to have the money for God's work but they fly around in multi million dollar jets and drive Bentley's or BMW's.

THE ONES I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT ARE THE CATHOLIC PRIEST IN THE MIDDLE OF JUNGLE WHERE THE PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE 2 CENTOS (CENTS) TO RUB TOGETHER A YEAR!
OR! THE MISSIONARY IN THE JUNGLES UP TO THEIR KNEES IN MUD WORKING ALONG THE PEOPLE WHO AGAIN ARE SO POOR THEY DO NOT HAVE 2 CENTOS (CENTS) TO RUB TOGETHER!
THOSE ARE THE REAL EVANGELISTS!

Well, they aren;t "fake", per se. They are indeed evangelicals--working hard to spread their version of the "Word". They are representing a large and loud audience of people and it would be foolish to pretend they are out there on their own.

"Evil?" Selfish, arrogant, and frequently greedy. Cynical and disconnected from reality. But evil?

"True" Christianity? And just exactly which, out of the thousands of sects of the faith, is the "true" one? All make that claim, and all have the same degree of evidence for that claim: None.

They do, however, display Christianity as the refuge of cynical, disconnected, arrogant, greedy, and selfish people of the world who seem to want to remake the world in their image. Especially the parts that they really don't like...like physics, astronomy, geology, biology, and basically all science.

If you are talking about truly fake evangelists, who alter the Word of God, they were prophesized in the Bible. Our job is to know the Word so as not to be deceived.

As for the evangelists, who are "after the money" but tell the Truth, Paul talks about them, and his view is basically "Oh, well. Don't concern yourselves. At least the Word is getting out there and people are coming to Christ."

Then, there's the evangelists who aren't your "style". (i.e. the screamers and such.) That's why there are so many different styles of preaching -- because there are so many different styles of people.

Bottom line, except for the false teachers, we are not to critizise or put down anyone out there preaching the gospel, just because we don't like their style.

We don't criticise God's workers.

Their example certainly is. I think it's pretty much impossible to define "true" Christianity, but fake evangelists aren't "true" anything (except perhaps con artists).

Which evangelists? Would that include Benny Hinn's wife, Suzanne? Attached is a Youtube video of her in action. I thought Benny was bad enough, but she is just as over the top as he is.

Be sure your sins will find you out, the bible says. There are some good and some bad, if a person is truly seeking God, he or she will find Him and know which evangelists to listen to.

Yeppers. A lot of evangelists are not preaching the true word of God they preach the money doctrine,or the Jesus dfied spiritually doctrine. If it's not Christ and Him Crucified than it's wrong simple as that.

I think there aren't as many fakes as you think. They just don't fit your style.Guys like Billy Graham aand Chuck Smith are right on and guys like Benny Hinn? Not so much. But each one serves a purpose. So I won't watch any of those 24 hr religious stations. But that's me not Joe Blow down the street who needs that to pump him up.I get pumped by reading the word of God ,just like I like my coffee black where you might like sugar or cream.
