Please - Give it a rest!!!!!! Most of the people responding on this question are too young or too naive to have any knowledge of what went on before and during WWII. Lets start with the recent history of the area known as Palestine Before and during WWI (yes that's"I" not "II") Palestine was controlled by Turkey (the old Ottoman Empire). It was considered a wasteland, and except for the symbolic value of Jerusalem, was empty desert, useless and valueless. WWI ended, Turkey bet on the wrong side (Germany), lost, and Palestine became a British Protectorate (Lawrence of Arabia and all that, old chap) Between the wars, the protectorate was no great prize. Oil was no big deal yet, Coal was still king and the oil fields of Saudi Arabia were just a glimmer on the horizon. It cost the British Empire far more money to "keep the wogs in line" than the area ever generated in exports to GB. The only prize was Jerusalem, and even that often seemed more trouble than it was worth. Along came Hitler, and his program to rid the world of the "subhuman" races, including the Jews, the Slavs, and the Gypsies. Many people in power knew about the atrocities that were being committed, but turned a blind eye and kept quite. It was only after the Allies reached the camps that the truth could no longer be withheld. People reacted with shame and horror, as they realized what had occurred as they went about their daily lives. 30 MILLION people had been murdered Many more had been dragged from their homes, their possessions stolen, turned into slaves and worked nearly to death. They had lost everything, had no where to go and no place to turn. Many of them were Jews. Europe was ruined, and had no place for them. The world (as represented in the UN) said "we are sorry for what we allowed to happen" Britain donated part of the Protectorate of Palestine to create the State of Israel. The Jews were offered their "Homeland" Which solved the problem of what to do with millions of displaced Jews in Europe. So please stop talking about how the US created all these problems. The fact is that France, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, not to mention the (then) Soviet Union, all needed to do something with these millions of displaced persons, and none of them wanted them in THEIR back yard. Yes the US supported the idea, but we did not create it. All the Arabs currently living on those lands were offered full citizenship in the new state The new state did not include the City of Jerusalem. The city and the rest of the protectorate, was divided among the other Arab states, including Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. The Arab states agreed to this in the UN. But were the Arab states willing to abide by their agreements? NO!!! They attacked within hours of the agreement being signed They swore to push every Israeli into the sea. And every Arab that accepted Israeli citizenship right along with them. Israel has been fighting for it very existence ever since. The United States has been consistent in it's support of Israel because of it's part in ignoring the plight of the Jews and the "subhumans" prior to WWII. There is every chance that if Great Britain, the United States, and France had stood up to Hitler, 30 Million lives could have been saved. We did not, and that is our national shame So Israel was created to right a wrong Are you so cowardly that you will turn your back on a pledge made to correct that wrong? I will not I hope you will not I will not stand by while threats are made to destroy a race or a country. History shows the cost is too high.

6 of one half a dozen of the other. I say all evil derives from my black cat Neko. He's pure evil. He is seriously an attack cat; he growls, scratches and bites visitors to my home. On three different occassions, he bit a veternarian, including once as a kitten immediately after being "fixed".

Middle East. They've been angry at the US entirely, not just Kansas.
I think the Suez Canal crisis may have started it all, when we helped Israel by giving them tanks and american weapons so they won the 6 day war.

Evil comes from people. There are bad people in every culture and region just like there are good ones.

the hearts of men. They continually look for someone to look down on instead of examining their own hearts for anything apposed to love and then humbly asking God to remove these flaws. It is easier for people to examine others than themselves. Your question and tone only proves my point. Change is painful.
The answer is the hearts of mankind everywhere.
