in windows xp open the image in paint then save as jpg. it is now converted.

Open your image with Image Editing Program such Photoshop, Corel Dram or Ms Paint ( Provided by windows )
Save your image as .jpg

Very easy.
Open the bmp in MSPAINT(come with windows) or similar application and then save it as jpg :)

In XP, open it for edit and then changing the file extension to .jpg. That has always worked for me.
