This question is in the "dog" section because that's where I spend most of my time. It's therefore where I notice a lot of people who seem to like their thoughts and ideas justified.

I've also posted it in the "Yahoo Answers" category.

Hopefully that should answer the inevitable question: "why is this question in the 'dog' category?".

Depends on what I was asking . If i was unsure yer sometimes I award the points to someone with a different opinion. However if I feel strongly about it well I tend to award people who are like minded .

Well, I don't think I've ever asked an opinion-based question. I don't bother posting my thoughts and ideas as questions; I agree that these people are just looking for justification for their own beliefs.

Once or twice my answer to such a question has been chosen as the best answer, even though I disagreed with the person. I think I would be the same way.

Haha- I have only asked one question but If i felt someone Else's argument against a point was better than mine, I would probably give them best answer, although if I was going to ask a question, it would normally be something that I wouldn't know the answer to, or was undecided about something- therefore I would really have nothing to disagree with. It would also depend on the nature of the persons answer, I defiantly wouldn't award them it if they seemed quite narky, so that's what it depends on for me but I suppose different people have different views and opinions.

on the odd occasion I do, yes. If I think they've made a valid point even though I might disagree with the main answer then I think they deserve to be acknowledged fairly like this.

I didnt even notice your question is in dogs! Is it?? Oh yes! (so it is)

particular what I extremely generally do is, if the guy has given me a disrespectful answer. i wil supply them ultimate answer yet in basic terms award them one celebrity. Then i will pass away a remark like "how might you like your head punched in". or something. through fact they get the e-mail saying they have have been given ultimate answer, they continually click on the link to reconsider the question, and then they see your remark.

Yes I have done, if they backed up their answer in a way that made sense. But then I ask questions to gain information, not to shore up my own opinions.
A well-thought-out response deserves a best answer...always supposing it has at least something to do with the question asked.

Yes,it's just a shame a few more can't do the same, instead of trying to ram their opinions down peoples throats.

No, but then again I don't ask many questions...
I did, however, receive the best answer even though I disagreed with whoever asked the question....
