the temperature of our extremities varies widely throughout the day and night. For instance, when you eat a large meal, a majority of your blood is directed to the intestinal tract, and so your hands and feet might become cold at that time....when asleep the circadian rythms of the body slow the heart rate and decrease the blood flow, so your hands and feet could be cooler than the rest of the body....there are many times and reasons for our extremities to be cold...not necessarily poor circulation.

I agree. It sounds like poor circulation. If you'd like to try out an old Chinese remedy, try eating some seaweed...or if that idea fills you with dread and/or disgust, you can try some seaweed pills (availble in any health section of a drug store. I've found them at Walgreens and CVS).
There is a scientific explanation as to why this works, but I personally don't know that. In Chinese medicine, circulatory problems arise from the area known as the 'sea of blood' and things that come from the ocean are typically used to address that. Seaweed is also used in traditional Korean winter soups to combat the cold winters there. Check out the link below if you'd like to try it out (or would like to know how to order it at a Korean restaurant).

I have that problem. It is called Reynaud's disease, which means vascluar spasms. Try drinking teas made from cinnamon sticks, cloves, fenugreek seeds and ginger to increase circulation in the body and warmth.
