The driver will go through their own company for repairs and then his insurance company will send you a bill for cost of repairs, cost of rental, as well as any medical cost. DO NOT THINK THAT YOU CAN IGNORE THESE BILLS. If you do not pay them in a timely manner then will garnish your wages and suspend your license. Usually if you call the insurance company they will work with you to set up a payment plan.

I guess you learned a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson. I hope other people read this who are considering going a few days without insurance coverage...

If you didn't have insurance at the time of the accident, you're screwed. You shoudln't have been driving your car. HOWEVER, if you had insurance at the time and you canceled the insurance afterwards because you were switching then its still the old insurance companies problem and they must deal with the claim regardless of you changing companies.

you were driving without insurance and caused an accident? You are screwed....Why did you cancel your one insurance before obtaining the other? ALL the costs of repair (both yours and anyone else involved) is your responsibility. You can (and probably will be) sued for restitution and everything that you own, or may own in the future are now at risk because of it. If you cannot/do not, pay up you may spend time in prison for it
