I have been taking vicodin and amoxil for this tooth just prior to this root canal. The dentist gave me several shots in my gums just about an hour ago and now I am numb and feel really nauseated and headachy..I wonder if the pain will worsen after the numbness goes away and why i feel sick! vicodin 5.

It could be the anasthesia used to numb the area but its more likely to be the infecton and you will also feel hazy from medications.
When the dentist says root is necrotic he means rotten..

Te amoxicillin will clear up the infection and this will be the end of the pain.

Abscesses, ie tooth infections cause earache and headaches commonly as the tooth has a network of nerves running through the face.

As the antibiotics kick in and eliminate the abscess your headache and nausea will disappear, dont worry.

Take it easy for the rest of night.

If you didn't eat before taking the vicodin, that can cause stomache upset.....And also the headache can be caused from the shot he gave you to numb the area....Just give it time to get fixed, and as soon as you get home, (or on your way home) get something in your stomache to coat it, from the medication he gave you....And if he ends up giving you a prescription for pain, for afterwards, just be sure that you eat before taking the prescribed meds, next time you need one, okay....And vicodin is a good pain-killer, so just give it time to get used too, through eating beforehand..... As far as the infection goes, that also will make you sick.. Having any kinds of infected teeth, will make us feel nausuas, from all of the poison's from the teeth leaking down into our stomache's when we swollow..... So, your problem could very well be stemmed from the infection itself....Or the antibiodics he's giving to you, for it.....Or just the combination of all three! The pain after dental work most likely will come back, so I would request from your dentist a prescription.....To take home with you.....If vicodin isn't for you, you could suggest to him Percocett's, those might help the pain a little bit better, and less stomache ache, too...... I know because I was hit by a car in 2001, and almost killed, so I've been on pain meds, for years! And tried them all until I found one with the least side effects..... Good Luck to you hun, I hope you get to feeling much better real soon! Smile, this will all be behind you, soon enough!!!

Probably from the Novocaine (or whatever CAINE they gave you to numb the area). I get that way, too after I get shot with that stuff. Also, the Vicodin can make you nauseated. Try to lay down for a little while. It will pass once the Novocaine wears off.
