The TSH would rise tramatically.
When I go hypo for my scans or treatments for papillary thyca my TSH goes to 70. Thyroid meds supress levels of TSH so cancer is slowed down. There is a great support group listed below on the links if you have or are going through the stages of thyroid cancer diagnosis.

THS is a hormone made by the pituitary gland and it regulates the function of the thyroid gland. THS stimulates the thyroid gland to secrete thyroxine. TSH production is controlled a thyrotropin releasing hormone, (TRH) which is manufactured in the hypothalamus and transported to the pituitary gland where it increases TSH production and release. Somatostatin is also produced by the hypothalamus and has the opposite effect on the pituitary production of TSH. The level of thyroid hormones in the blood have an additional effect on the pituitary release of TSH. When Thyroid hormones are low, the production of TSH is increased and conversely, when levels are high, then THS production is decreased. So, lets see, I would guess if there is no more thyroid gland, and no more thyroxine, then the THS level would be high. But I wonder what happens when they give you thyroid pills. Then what. Sorry, but this is as far as I can understand the process. It seems rather complicated. This will probably be an easy one for the professionals.

The TSH would increase. When you have your thyroid gland removed, the doctors should adjust your dosage of thyroid medication to suppress the TSH so that no cancer cells can survive. If the question pertains to you or someone you know.....make sure the doctor does this.
